Went to Chex Lulu last night for birthday dessert and cocktails and it was incredible! Carmen made one of the best drinks I have ever had! She was so knowledgeable about the food and made some excellent recommendations! We thoroughly enjoyed her company in the perfectly eclectic French ambiance! I will definitely be back again and again!!!

We especially love going for Valentine’s Day here with another couple. The fixed price is worth it for a delicious, laid back and romantic night!

Totally awesome! I felt like I went to Paris for my lunch hour!

This is one of my favorite restaurants with a very french bohemian atmosphere, wonderful food, and is always a transportive and comforting experience. A place to take your time with a long meal, good conversation, and great friends.

This is my go to for a relaxed atmosphere and consistently excellent food and service. La Doba (French beef stew) always hits the spot! Birmingham is lucky to have this lovely little bohemian bistro!

This is by far the best lunch I’ve had in Mountain Brook!

The creme brûlée is divine. The Italian sausage pizza with carmelized onions and mozzarella is OMG! The turkey and swiss on a sweet potato bun is wonderful. I love to sit outside in the patio and listen to their music. A quaint little restaurant that is absolutely a necessary stop on the weekend or if you are visiting!

My husband and I went for the first time this weekend. I am absolutely IN LOVE with this place. It has the great eclectic atmosphere that reminds me of one of my favorite restaurants at home. The food was AMAZING! I got the LuLu Du Jour with the Artichoke Heart Tarte and White Gazpacho. I cannot tell you how great it was! Also I had dessert even though I was completely full, but I had to have some Belgian Chocolate (THE BEST CHOCOLATE IN THE WORLD). The entire experience made me so happy. This will be my new "go-to" restaurant every time we go to Birmingham. Thanks for being awesome!!!!

It was my first time eating there. The food was great as was the service. Very busy place but the atmosphere made me feel that it was just me and my friends.

It was a wonderful, quaint establishment. I can't wait to return with friends!

I was in Birmingham for two days -- one meal had to be at Chez Lulu! I am addicted to the Alabama Goat Cheese, Pear and walnut sandwich. I have to flip a coin between the mushroom soup and the garlic soup. It is my birthday go-to restaurant.

I love the atmosphere of this little bistro! They offer outdoor seating as well as indoor. The food tastes fabulous and fresh! I would highly recommend their tarts, salads and soups!

Great Sunday brunch. Felt like we were at a cafe in Provence.

Very long wait for the food which was ok but not great. Especially for the prices. Service was poor.

Thanks for the awesome sunburn, decent food, and horrible service. Not what I expected, but not the worst.

On Sunday, Feb 16, 2004 (my 60th birthday), my daughter, son-in-law & grandchildren, drove to Chez Lulu from Tuscaloosa to celebrate my birthday, at my request. I am orginally from Birmingham, but I live in Tuscaloosa now. I come to Birmingham 2-3 times a month to visit friends and we often make Chez Lulu THE place to dine. The employees there are always professional, clean, neatly dressed and friendly. I have always been made to feel like I am a special guest there! I am always told of the special desserts, soups for the day, and the menu items are described whenever me and my friends have questions. On this day, we were seated by a very nice lady (with short black hair). Later, a waiter brought us menus and he told us he would be right back. It was several minutes before the waiter returned to take our order and he was not the "type" of server that I am accustomed to. He was not friendly at all. Anyway, the food was outstanding (as usual), but we ran out of drinks until another server brought us refills. Finally, when we saw our original waiter again, we told him that we were ready to order desserts. He said he would be right back, but he never returned to take those orders or to even give us our tickets. My daughter finally went to find him to get our ticket and he was rude to her, by not even looking at her except to give her a "smirk". I doubt that my son-in-law will EVER return, and I am very upset and embarrassed since I asked him to take me there for my birthday. I looked at our ticket and noted that the "server's" name is "Kevin". This man should not work in a classy establishment like Chez Lulu. In fact, when I return, I intend to ask someone at the front if he still works there, and, if he does, I will go elsewhere. If someone like Kevin continues to work there, Chez Lulu will eventually close down in English Village due to lack of business.
