Great food. Portions are huge. My pancakes were plate size. Our smoked ham was very tasty. Eggs were cooked perfect.

Had to go to Benson for a business meeting...we got there too early for our meeting so we tried to go and eat breakfast at the Horseshoe Cafe & Bakery BUT there was a hand written sign that said "closed for repairs, sorry for the inconvenience." Unfortunately, we left and hit up another spot; however, on the way back to the freeway, we figured we'd try again and it was OPEN! We stopped it for a warm drink (chillier than Tucson) and I immediately allowed the scents of what appeared to be a homemade banana cream pie envelope me (HAHAHA). No, but really, all I ordered was a slice of this heavenly looking pie and a glass of water.

The decor was just what you would imagine when in a small town like Benson. It had a homegrown feeling to it and maximum capacity (per the sign) was only 42. It was cozy enough to make you feel welcome but had two rooms for sitting and a bar area.

The two ladies that tended to my co-worker and I were great, far better customer service skills than the other place we had stopped at for breakfast. Anyway, they brought out my pie, water and my co-workers hot chocolate. Her chocolate seemed pretty basic like from a powder mixed with water and was not too hot, nor even warm. She drank it anyway. I was served a large piece of pie, the banana and cream scents once again enveloped me (ahhhh)...I took about 4 fork fulls and decided that it just wasn't what my nose perceived it would be. Yes, it presented well; yes, it smelled great, but the taste was too heavy- it was more custard/pudding-like than anything. There were just 4 slices of fresh banana smothered between the custard/pudding-like "meat" of the pie. The crust was not good either, the custard/puddling was so heavy that the bottom of my pie was crumbs and the edge was hardly baked.

I hope to return to Benson in the near future for a steak...

This is a great place for breakfast...funky atmosphere and outstanding breakfast food. Lunch and dinner is decent as well. But the breakfast will knock your socks off.

Stopped for lunch around 1PM on Sunday expecting a long wait for good food. Only 5 min. wait to be seated; busy but efficient. As expected really good food. We opted for fresh and tasty sandwiches. Loved the atmosphere of an honest to goodness "local" restaurant.

Delicious food, professional staff, reasonable prices. The Horseshoe Cafe has become our go to restaurant when we just want a quick lunch or a place to go out to celebrate a wedding anniversary. We're going to try the prime rib on Saturday. I would definitely recommend it as long as they keep things the way they are and dont go raising prices and shorting the

My husband and I love this place. We don't live in Benson but drive through Benson often. The place has a down to Earth feel with great comfort food. Try the apple dumpling desert with vanilla ice cream. So good! It's like a yum piece of apple pie.

It's Western food at its finest. Don't even start me on the pies and chocolate cakes, which are heavenly.

The Horseshoe is a legendary fixture in Benson, right across from the train station where in times past hungry visitors would step off the train and walk right on over to the Shoe. I eat there every time that I pass through Benson which is probably at least 10 times per year. The main room's soda fountain-style atmosphere, complete with the shiny vinyl booths, super-long counter seating area, and giant horseshoe fluorescent light on the ceiing bring back childhood memories of similar haunts that my parents would take me to as a young child in the 1950's.

The quaint side room has window seats for watching the main street action. It also features several walls with historic photos of Benson and the Horseshoe building going back to the early 1900's. The tiny bar is attached to this side room and couldn't hold more than 20 people I think, so it must be a closely guarded secret for locals to enjoy.

This was my first time here and had the bacon cheeseburger. It was delicious. As I was eating and looking around I saw someone eating the tuna salad. I need to come back and try that. The thing that I enjoyed the most was all the neon work on the ceiling. I think it would be a perfect place to come to on a rainy day and just chill out and have coffee and look at the Neon

God's food and service. Historic restaurant

Horrible good. Over salted beef, rubber chicken. Poorly prepared desserts.

The best spot in Benton. Great home made food with good portions. Nice prime rib and sides.

They offer 'grilled' all you can eat fish on Fridays. For those who love it fried, no worries, that's still available.
