Basque Boulangerie Café Description

The Basque Boulangerie Cafe opened on the historic square of Sonoma in 1994 and offers two generations of baking excellence. "The Basque", as it is affectionately known by locals and return customers, specializes in lightcrumb, crisp sourdough breads and assorted sweet French or Parisian style breads, Danish pastries, morning rolls, cookies and cakes in its lively cafe, as well as delivering these fresh products daily to its wholesale customers. The Basque Boulangerie's breads have won the Sonoma County Harvest Fair's Sweepstakes Awards. The Pastry Chef at the Basque has been featured on the Food Network for her famous Beehive cake and slices. The Basque Cafe offers an extended cafe style menu available all day. For lunch, favorites include sandwiches like prosciutto & brie on a hard roll, Nicoise salad, homemade soups, and daily specials. The aroma of freshly ground coffee beans fills the air while baristas prepare your favorite coffee drinks. Wines by the glass are most competitively priced. Visit the Basque Cafe for a fun and delicious experience or contact the Basque if you are interested in wholesale delivery.

What's not to like? Its such fun, the atmosphere always makes me feel like I'm back in Europe for a few minutes. The food is off the charts and I don't know what I'd do without THAT bread! Yummmmm

Weve been going there ever since they opened. We go there, mainly, for their french bread (Vienna loaves and/or Greek bread...our favorites). The bread NEVER makes it home. You get a wiff of that beautiful aroma permeating in your car, next thing you know, youve got crumbs all over your shirt and a big hole in your french bread. Lol

Very friendly staff and delicious food! The chai tea latte is among the best I've ever had. Thank you!!!

Their bread pudding with whipped cream is awesome! Judging by the foot traffic, it is easy to see that this little cafe is loved by the locals and visitors alike for the great food and service. Can’t wait to go back. 😋

The staff and owner are the best in customer service with a delicious product! From Apricot Scones with fresh coffee to the special soups of the day with their signature French bread. You will catch my daughter there at least twice a week!

The Beehive cake was creamy, custardy and smooth. (I don't know how they got the custard to be so substantial although creamy--it held its shape.) The bottom cake layer was flaky and sweetened with honey. Great house coffee is self-serve, and the young woman who took our order was genuinely kind and helpful. This place is so busy.

THis is one of my have to go stops when I am in Sonoma....The bread is the freshest and the best.....I always bring home a loaf or 2 back to Texas with me .....

If you want some delicious pastries or a good coffee you need to visit this place. It is the best place to have a coffee with a delicious pastry. I love that. And the free bread is a good idea.

I wanted to let you know that we buy your breads at a locally owned market in Santa Rosa. It's the best. The texture on pull-apart rounder is so perfect; we put a little butter on it and nearly finish the whole thing in one go! The quarters also make a great platform for hearty sandwiches. I make my own garlic bread with your baguettes.

If you ever stop delivery we don't know what we'll do.

And next time we venture to Sonoma we'll be sure to look for your cafe.

I don't care about wine, this place is worth coming to Sonoma all by itself. If you like breads, pastries and coffee culture - this is should be on your bucket list.

My wife and I shared a Spinach & Chicken sandwich (creamed spinach, grilled chicken breast, garlic ailoi & havarti horseradish cheese on toasted cibatta) and we took with us some delicious baked goods. Excellent.

I always have stop here on my way to the Sonoma Coast either to eat lunch or take out for a pick nick lunch later at the beach or the redwoods. Their sandwiches are made fresh and always delicious as well as their array of baked goods. My favorite has to be their Russian Tea Cakes. I live out of state now, so it is a treat for me to stop there.

Good little cafe for a quick lunch! We were on a wine tour and stopped in the area for lunch so it was perfect!

Always friendly staff, the food is delicious and the chocolate Chunk cookies, and morning buns are a must whenever we are there. There simple Sonoma blend coffee with a chocolate croissant is a perfect duo.
