5 stars for the wonderful location with incredible view on the ocean but also for the nice staff. It is not crazy fancy in term of food (it is average -just good enough) but it os just so relaxing to eat in such scenery.

Food is great, I had the French toast with fresh fruit and the wife had a chicken club panini sandwich. Nice to eat so close to the Ocean.

Can't beat a great meal and a view of the Pacific. On Sundays there are lots of surfers. The weekend brunch features their famous short rib and eggs breakfast. Watch out for a rouge seagull every now and then. They added bar style seating for sole diners (like myself today). Well worth it.

Walked out without eating.. would not take order.. we wanted lunch..They would only take orders for breakfast.. no one in line in back of us.. had to just stand there waiting. For seven more minutes until they would take the order... they couldnt take order and let us sit to wait??? How stupid..

Bad service after a long wait. Rude cashier and a lot of disorganization. Food is good but not worth the wait.

Good food, great view of the ocean/beach. Staff is nice. Prices decent.

Excellent views and well prepared food. Almost wish I could get the eggs at lunch. Sweeping views of the ocean. Totally worth it. Salads are fantastic.

Somehow the waiters are not that smooth. Can't put my finger on it. In a beautiful location I expect them to be happy, kind, friendly and polite. There is something that's not that smooth and friendly with them. And I have been there several times.

One of those times I went with my 4 year old child and ordered a scone for breakfast. They brought the a different scone than I ordered and since my son was allergic to nuts I told them it's the wrong scone and that they can take it back. The waiter apologized and asked me to keep it which I reluctantantly agreed to. He said he would bring the correct scone. 10 min later, another waiter comes and asked for the old scone back. It felt crazy that the first waiter forced us to keep it and the next one came and almost immediately took it away. It was rude and insulting. Look I didn't even ask for it. Was very hurtful to my 4 year old and to this day he remembers it and says he doesn't like the place. And he was taking it to another table - ugh. Please ..... Not to mention they were insulting a guest to whom they had brought the wrong item and had forced them to keep the wrong item.

Waiters dont seem to he happy or genuine there. Dont know why. At such a beautiful venue I almost expect them to be.

Everything else is fantastic.

Very busy in the weekend as usual. Food and coffee are good. Great place for a breakfast or brunch as you can sit outside on their terrace and enjoy the view of la Jolla shores. Highly recommended. Note the car park is only for the institute on weekdays but you can park there on weekends

Food was just Okay, needs more flavor/ ingredients for the prices. No condiments except ketchup. Their website says they serve brunch mon-fri. 1130-3pm but they don't serve any breakfast items during that time. Street parking is the only option. Most of the 3 stars is for the view.

The food looks good although we only had fresh fruit bowl and an apple tart. There were several pieces of fruit that were not edible. the Mimosa was a generous serving my latte was cold and only about three quarters of the glass was used. All that being said the view is gorgeous but don't come here if you want to eat right away the way it seems to be about 20 to 30 minutes.

The food here is always made to order here. Everything so fresh, and full of flavor. The staff is awesome especially being as busy as they always are. Thank you Carolines and staff for always providing the best food and service. It may take some time to get your food, but it's definitely worth the wait. You can always call in your order ahead of time to save time not standing in the line! 😉

I love this place.

Pros: location (right above Scripps Beach with views over to La Jolla to the South and Blacks to the north); price (for the quality of food and the location the prices are very reasonable); food (not an over-complicated menu, and great quality); building (fancy building with a great patio)

Cons: the wait (my rule of thumb is to get there before 9:30am on the weekends, or be prepared to wait an hour. still worth it in my opinion!); the coffee (the standard coffee, rather than the cappuccinos, etc, could be better).

The Bottom Line: get there early; go for the All American Egg Scramble; enjoy in one of the tables on the patio overlooking the beach. It would be very hard to beat the experience anywhere in San Diego, or even the county. I take all my visitors here - it's a must!

It's a busy place, especially on weekends. But totally worth it! The food is amazing and the view spectacular. All that for a reasonable price in La Jolla!

Great fresh food at reasonable prices overlooking the beach and Scripps pier. It's the perfect place for brunch in la Jolla. Get there early or prepare for a long wait.
