We love coming here year after year but a recent change has lowered customer service drastically.

They have no host. Instead, you write your name on the sheet. We were confused as to if we should then call our name and seat ourselves. A host is needed. Especially when this place gets super busy. It’s confusion near the front door with everyone looking for a host.

This can cause some confrontation as well since only regulars know to write their name down and new folks don’t.

Service takes awhile too. Expect to wait for a server to take your order. Nothing is fast here!

Gem of a place. Breakfast was yummy. Alberta was our waitress and she took great care of us. Will come back!

I simply love this place. Been coming here for over 20 years, and have not had a bad experience once. Everything is always fresh. Shelly, one of the best, most knowledgeable waitress, is amazing. When you go to visit, ask for Shelly, and tell her Marc sent you or you saw my review. All the rest of the staff is also amazing. BOTTOM LINE, If you have not been here, You need to visit....

I love sitting at the counter with my son
Great place to have breakfast before dropping off the kids at La Jolla Elementary. Good burgers too.

3 days a week for 18 years... what else can I say? If you like a coffee shop, and you want good food and great service, stop in and say hi... I will very likely be at the counter! Now listen, this is not a fancy place... its the kind of place where they learn your name and what you like to drink. The wait staff are great, and the Rudolph family are good folks all around.

Solid historical diner. Worth paying a visit on your trip. Very popular/crowded.

Most breakfast dishes range $10~$14, which is about right for San Diego.

Got the BW Benny, which is bacon waffle (yes, bacon waffle) with egg Benedict and more bacon and ham on top. $13.

Coffee tasted okay... $3.29 with unlimited refills, but things like cappuccino are all $3~$4 so you might wanna just forgo the coffee.

The food was so phenomenal my boyfriend could not stop saying "wow" in between bites. Their bacon was AMAZING, best bacon I've ever had. Pancakes were flavorful and yummy. The fruit was super fresh and our server was quite nice. The coffee was strong and hot. 10/10

The food was awesome and the wait staff was very friendly and accommodating. Will definitely stop by here again when traveling to La Jolla.

Nice retro place, truly a diner. That said, waffles also tasted like those from a diner on a road :/ Perhaps wouldn't recommend those but other items looked good.

Good old fashioned coffee shop with booths and a counter with a dozen seats! Excellent service, friendly waitresses, traditional favorites on the menu and free parking in the back lot with rear entrance. You won't be disappointed!

Great diner breakfast and super friendly, on the ball service. We were seated outside and it started raining. Within a couple minutes, we were moved to a table inside. Also, eggs Benedict on a waffle.
