Pretty cool place way out. I got a Groupon because it sounded good but didn't use it till the day it was expiring because I didn't want to drive that far. But so glad I did. There were so many Tortas to choose from. I got the Philly Cheesesteak Torta. Omg it was so delicious. It was huge! Had plenty of meat, cheese, mushrooms, onions and guacamole. The potato fries were ok. Tasted much better heated up in the toaster oven. I also got the carne asada burrito which came with chips. Chips were good but haven't eaten the burrito yet. The place has outside seating and a cool salsa bar. Will definitely be back. Just have to make that special trip!

I took food to go but it has a pleasant atmosphere.

This place is a classic. Always gotten great service and food from here, if I don't use a coupon. Seems like the attitude of the cashier totally change when you provide a coupon from Groupon. Why even have the coupon up if I get treated differently for using it?

This place may look cute and small, but their sandwiches are huge! They have homemade creme filled churros that are to die for and their homemade chips are so good that sometimes I want to go here just to get chips lol.

The tortas are great, but the tortilla soup steals the show, absolutely incredible! Great friendly service!

The food was amazing and there was such a variety in what was offered on the menu as well. We especially loved the type of ambiance and decoration; it was different than what we typically see in a Mexican eatery! The staff was very nice too, we stayed for a long time and weren't pressured to leave or anything. Overall a really nice experience at La Tora Cafe!

Great food and a great outdoor patio to enjoy it on. The selection here will blow you away... some of the Torta's leave the expressly "Mexican" genre but it works... again, all because of the bread. The Torta bun that they use is absolutely perfect. Check these guys out for sure.

Love this place!! First time I've visited this location. I remember them on La Mesa Blvd around the corner. And the one by SDSU (closed now) Same owners, same great food!! I'll be back again soon!!

Food is like the atmosphere, old fashioned. If you enjoy heavy, oily food then you might like this place.

Very well done Mexican food spot. Nice waitresses, salsa bar, outdoor and indoor seating. Some dishes can be a bit heavy on salt but not all dishes. Especially good after an hour at the arcade bar across the street.

Pretty good tortas, and a pretty extensive menu. Some of it is just ok, while other items are really good. It's a bit hit or miss. Hence the 4 out of 5 stars.

I have been coming here for a very long time. I never have been disappointed. The menu is extensive. I haven't been able to try all the tortas but the ones I have tried were off the chart. With the salsa bar it all goes together so well. The prices are worth every bit of What you pay for.
