I give Pappalecco 5 stars because the gelato and variety are first class. Normally the service it also, although my most recent visit was not. I paid for four small cups. The server spoke no English and filled the first cup. The recipient went out side to sit at a table. Then the second and third. When it was my turn, she ignored me and went to a new order. I explained to her that it had not received my fourth cup. She smiled still continued on to the next person. Again I told her, I paid for four and I did not receive mine. The only reason she consented and gave me my fourth cup was because the other customer insisted she serve me. To punish me, the server only filled the cup partially. I was not at all happy. Hopefully she will be retrained.

Another San Diego gem! A charming cafe staffed by friendly Italians. Strong coffee, simple and fresh pastries and sandwiches and of course, amazing gelato (hazelnut is my favorite).

Everyone is very friendly here. They serve really great coffee and desserts. This is a great place for a quick snack. It's a little crowded inside but there's plenty of outdoor seating.

This New Yorker found the staff almost annoyingly cheerful. The coffee, however, is SO GOOD that even I can forgive them ;-)

I also asked for just egg and cheese on a croissant. It's not on the menu but they were happy (sensing a theme?) to accommodate, and they did that usually rather plain breakfast with aplomb. The egg was perfectly cooked. The croissant was flakey, buttery and amazing, and the cheese was something strong enough to hold its own against that croissant without overpowering anything.

Delicious. I had the Salomone...basically egg croissant with arugula and salmon. It went great with my large latte. First time here and it was evident to the gal who took my order. She introduced herself, welcomed me and thanked me for coming. Explained some different things on the menu and their coffees. All around great experience. I'll be back.

We ENJOYED cups filled with Gelato! We were just walking down the street and hoping to see a dessert spot, and so glad we saw this place. We plan to go back for more Gelato or some of the other desserts they had on display! Staff was very friendly even though they were quite busy. ☺

I always stop at this place whenever I'm in San Diego. They have the best breakfast and coffee in the area. Awesome paninis and everything else. Great friendly service and awesome staff.

This place is a scene. The coffee is excellent as are the sandwiches and sweets. The staff is usually foreign so it's always interesting speaking with them. I actually met a Calabrian who was close to my village in Italy. What are the chances!

Anyway, this is always a good, but trendy choice for your coffee or a light Mediterranean style bite to eat.

Amazing quaint breakfast and desert option in Little Italy. Staff is friendly and food is reasonably priced. Highly recommend the Bacon Croissant.

The food is amazing, especially the croissants! The coffee was so amazing that I didnt even need to put sugar in it. Sole (the lady at the register) is so nice and sweet.

Absolutely amazing place! The staff are so kind and friendly they will put a smile on your face. And the food is awesome. Coffee is the best I've had in a long time as well. I could eat here every day, they truly know what it is to serve a customer. Love it!

My Italian professor in high would always talk about this place so after 5 years I finally visited the restaurant. Let me just tell you that you will not be disappointed by anything on the menu! The coffee is great, the Panini was amazing and fresh. To top it all off, the gelato was rich and just superb!
