Though closed Christmas Day, our family "breaks" into Spice House Cafe on Christmas morning to honor our tradition one last time, a tradition started many, many years ago....Christmas breakfast at Spice House Cafe!! Our children grew up working at this restaurant, our family thrived and now our grand daughter will forever be part of our memories of this place. A small peek at the people who have kept this place open all these years....

Twentysome years ago, Jennifer Lares walked in our door, a single mom, looking for a job. Extremely qualified, she has helped us run Spice House Cafe, practically raising two of her children in the restaurant! Trisha Lares and Marla Batista worked as hostesses as young teens, and then waitresses for many years before moving on. This family joined ours, becoming the heart and soul of Spice House (Halloween and Christmas decorations courtesy of the Lares clan)!! We will forever be bound together. We call all our loyal customers to stop by, and say goodbye to Jennifer!😃🎄

Another great Yelp review...what we strive for daily!! "... So I'm in San Diego today for a conference and I had a few hours to burn. I decided that I'd stop by a cafe or restaurant for breakfast. Never hearing of this place I decided to stop in and give it a try! All I can say is SIMPLY AMAZING. The waitress that greeted me was really friendly. The coffee was hot and fresh and the service was quick. I ordered the Gyros Omlette with hash browns and toast. I expected to wait... at least 10 mins with the crowd but my order came out in less time than that. The Omlette was amazing!.....wait did I already say that!! Well it was! You can tell when you get fresh ingredients and this was loaded with it. Fresh tomatoes, onions, fetta, garlic and of course gyros meat! One of the best Omlettes I've had in a long long time. The hash browns were crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. You could tell they were homemade! This place is a great start for your day and a good throw back to classic diners! Definitely should be on a list of great diners."

Did you know we have a "secret menu".... old favorites that can still be requested? One of mine is the South of The Border Sandwich: Tender slices of roast beef, melted cheddar, tomatoes and an ortega chili on grilled sourdough bread. Try ordering it this weekend!

Love your enthusiasm Brad G...and your 5 star Yelp review! "Out freaking standing! Man the food here is amazing! Huge portions, perfectly prepared to your exact liking. Plenty of parking, easy access to the parking lot and clean interior. And best part, it is just down from the corp area of Kearny Mesa! Wife got the Greek Giro Salad and it was packed with giro meat compared to other places, breakfast all day so I picked up the steak and eggs. Service was exceptional! Food was so perfect that we ate it all.... Man I feel like a stuffed tick now! Stop by, you will not be bummed that you did."

Thank you James M. for your recent review. Love the 5 star rating! "This is probably my favorite breakfast coffee house in San Diego. Try the hobo omelette just with hashbrowns and English muffin. Super nice waitresses good service. Many good breakfast and lunch choices."

Very good Breakfast!! I overshot on the French Toast combo, but it was delicious � My server was very pleasant and attentive. I’d definitely recommend this place. One thing, don’t let your eyes � be bigger than your stomach!! ��

Spice House Cafe in Clairmont Mesa - Amazing food - gyros omelette, eggs Benedict, French toast bigger than H's head and a chicken omelette all to die for and very reasonably priced for a mountain of food! (Next time hubby and I will share an entree)

Never visited you before but was amazed at the portion sizes. Also food was tasty and what I loved was that waitress was attentive enough but not over did it.

I work close by and never had visited you guys. Although the building needs some light remodeling (specially restrooms and carpet) all I can say is goodbye ihop n dennys and hello spice house café

I don,t eat breakfast any where elsa in town, and l've tried them all. You have to try there French toast made with home made bread,and a slice of ham and a box to take half of it home for dinner.

Great menu with a lot of different cuisines to choose from, Greek, Italian, American. Helen was a GREAT waitress, super attentive and very pleasant. Great way to start a morning in San Diego!!

We never came back to your place in Claremont Mesa, close to a year.You female asrever was charging us $1.00 for ea,condiment size salsa, and $2.00 each plate with white eggs only.and she added gratuity on top of the total amount.and she still took 30%tip we leave on the table.
