Well we use to live in LA vernia and went back yesterday just to look around at the places we lived in...we decided to try this place and what a treat....I had the chicken fried steak and it was one of the best I have ever had...will be going back again real soon

We happened to go on a Thursday night and they had a wonderful group of people playing music. We really enjoyed our evening. The food was also good and what amazing prices.

I love Baldys. Eat breakfast at least once a week there. Sherry takes very good care of us and the food is delish. Early bird is my favorite. They are never in a hurry for us to leave, as we stay and visit after our meal.

2x2x2x2 Breakfast was almost 2 much! Great service, great value, scrambled egg from "real" eggs, FLUFFY pancakes... I just found a new breakfast spot!

We were seated near the main entrance at a table for four even though there was plenty of tables available we were seated in an already crowded area. Definitely wouldn't have minded a bigger table for some elbow room. Our burgers came fast and were very good. My nephew had breakfast,I like that you serve breakfast all day and the service was good. I'd go back to try more things off the menu because the have lots to choose from!

Jalapeno cheese burger was great. Seasoned fries were good but could have been hotter! Service was great! Always is!

I found this place in the spring of 2016, and I've been going back about once every three weeks since then. I've had dinner there once, but I usually go for breakfast. My go to here is the steak omelette, with home fries and pancakes. I add mushrooms and extra cheese to the omelette. The omelette and home fries are always good, and the pancakes are good when they're not over or undercooked. This is the kind of place that I wish we had in Schertz, and I don't mind the 30 minute country drive that it takes to get there. Overall, I'm very happy that I found this place, and I'll keep going back.

I am a little picky about my eggs and these were perfect. The waitress was friendly, she even agreed to come out and take a picture of our group.

Had a great experience! My cousins were here from out of town visiting and loved it too. They loved the variety of food but the Happy Face Pancake stole the show for their son.

We visit Baldy’s usually every week on Sunday’s but after today I think we’ll find another Sunday spot. We were there for 2 hours and waiting an hour for food with little ones is not an enjoyable experience. Our waitress was overworked so unfortunately service was lacking. We had no silverware, my tea was empty from the time I received my salad until I was almost done eating. We had to ask for dessert that was supposed to come with our meals and my bill was almost $30 for a chopped steak($8.99), 2 kids meals ($3.99), a tea($1.99) and kids tea($.99). I’m no math major but maybe their adding machine is as overworked as their waitresses. I asked if my bill was correct and she re-added it and assured me it was correct and after being there for 2 hours I was done and in no mood to argue. The food was decent so that’s the only reason for the rating of a 2.

We have eaten at Baldys on several occasions, today we decided to drive out that way. We got there about 35 minutes before they closed and our experience was awful. Started with our drinks. I an diabetic and drink unsweet tea, my partner drinks sweet tea. When our teas came out we both had sweet tea. We order our meal. I ordered a hamburger with mayo, lettuce, tomato and pickles, when it came out I had no mayo and they added onion. My partner order a patty melt on texas toast with onion rings. Her patty melt came put and the cheese was still cold and not even melted. While we were sitting there several other customers had to send there food back. I understand it was Sunday and it was almost closing time but that was a few to many mistakes for me. We won't be going back. Sucks cause I really love the sweet potato fries.

We came after a huge rush on Sunday, totally expected a wait. I wasn’t even mad after an hour of no refills or contact with the staff, but when the rush was gone and my family and I were just sitting there with no communication and empty glasses we had enough. We paid for our drinks and left! Too bad, I heard they were good but I’ll never know because we will never be back. Not the place for you if you are hungry or want good service.

Just ate at Baldy's in La Vernia tonight. I was surprised when my bill was over $30. (1 iced tea, 1 water one meal for $9.99 and one meal for $14.99 and two desserts which I thought were included in the meal ... waitress never said any different). The waitress/cashier explained that we were charged seventy five cents for our to go boxes (25 cents each ... she explained that they are family run business and have to charge for them, but don't tell the customers!!!!!!!!) and $1.99 for one of our desserts because it's not one of the one's that's included. The waitress that took our dessert order was not the waitress that took our food order. The "dessert" waitress suggested the dessert that I chose because they were out of tapioca.

My advice to others who love their food .... ask before you choose your dessert and be aware that you will be charged for to go boxes because "they don't mention that to customers" as I was told.

We won't be returning. There are other restaurants in La Vernia.

I have recently been eating at Baldy's in La Vernia. 4 times in 3 weeks. The food has been excellent as well as the service. Last night was a terrible experience. I ordered the steak Fillet special medium rare with 2 of my friends. There were only 4 other tables in the restaurant but the food took a really long time to arrive. When served my steak was medium well and my friends steak was right on...medium rare. Due to the fact it was 7:30pm and I didn't want to watch my friends eat and them watch me...I did not send it back. The waitress did not even come back to the table to check on us. When I went to pay the cashier asked how the food was and I informed them of my over cooked steak and she called the manager up. The owner proceeded to tell me that my steak was not overcooked because they use thermometers. My two friends advised her that was not possible because the two steaks were not even close to bring cooked the same. She proceeded to tell me they don't comp food so what did I want her to do? I did not expect her to comp my meal but advised her due to her behavior over the discussion I would not be coming back. I wasn't expecting for her to insinuate I was lying about how my steak was cooked. Never forget...the customer is always right.
