About Bread Of Life Cafe'
The Bread of Life Cafe' has been servin' up good ole southern cookin' since 1995. We have a loaded buffet, extensive menu and plenty of family atmosphere.
Bread Of Life Cafe' Description
The story of the Bread of Life Café didn’t start with our famous, homemade rolls or our affordable prices – it actually began with one couple’s love for children.
Early in their marriage, Jerry & Sandy Tucker desperately wanted to start their family. Doctors said they had a one-in-a-million chance of having a baby. That prognosis launched a journey of adoption, two miracle, biological daughters, and a ministry giving children of all ages a place to call home over the next 40 years . . . and counting.
So, where does the Bread of Life Café fit in? 1992 saw Sandy (Mom) thinking of new ways to financially support the ministry of the Galilean Children’s Home, so she started a small, Christian bookstore in downtown Liberty. Two years later, the bookstore struggling, Mom added four tables to serve soup and sandwiches for lunchtime.
We officially opened the doors as Bread of Life Café in 1995. Before long our signature rolls (Mom’s recipe), a loaded, southern cookin’ buffet and an extensive menu brought in enough people daily that our small, downtown location began to bust at the seams. So, we added the Bread of Life Diner just a few blocks away, and even had a café in Hustonville for a short time.
Over the next several years, we wanted to make multiple restaurants one, and in 2001 we cut the ribbon right here, five miles south of Liberty on Highway 127. Our dedication to affordable prices, good ol’ southern cookin’ & great service is the foundation of what keeps folks, such as yourself, coming back for more.
Though Mom passed away in 2007 after a long battle with cancer – her vision for this restaurant, and the ministry, lives. Every cent after operating costs goes to support the Galilean Children’s Home. The Café also serves as a place for some of the more capable residents to work while also adding jobs in our community.
In 2008 one of Mom’s big dreams for the Bread of Life Café came true. We were able to add the spacious, diverse gift & sweet shop she always wanted with everything from locally-made candles to our famous, homemade fudge as well as our unique, tasty rolls & more. There is a section dedicated to information about Galilean Home Ministries with the latest newsletters, two books written by Mom, and even some documentaries and TV shows produced about the ministry. So, don’t forget to mosey on through while you’re there.

My wife and I stopped for lunch on our way back from Dale Hollow Lake and I don't say this very often but the catfish and the peach cobbler was head and shoulders above anything I have had. The best, the greatest, number one on my list of all time.

My family and I were in the café on Friday Sept 22nd and had Spencer as our waitor. He was AWESOME!!!! Even brought us to go drinks without even asking. It is great having some where good to eat in our home town and having a great waitor.

Go on Friday, some of the best catfish I've ever had!! Great service and fantastic food! And the purpose behind it makes it worth even more. It's worth the drive! And the gift is really awesome too! Two thumbs way up!!!

Found this place 5 days ago and have ate there 4 of the 5 days only day we didn't eat there was Sunday and that was because it is closed on Sundays great home cooking love it

They had fried chicken wings, beef, fried pork chops country ham,beef was good country ham that I had on second serve was good first one was dry and hard to eat didn't try the pork chops the chicken wings were also dry veggies were good corn bread was good and the peach cobbler, I will be going again next Saturday hoping it is better .

I liked the meatloaf, but they put a little too much ketchup on it, I also liked the roasted chicken, but they need a wider variety of hot veggies.

Everything was delicious, with the exception of the fish, I love fish but their fish was actually dry & hard, wouldn’t stop me from coming back.

Not as good as I have had there. We went at lunch yesterday and the pork chop, meatloaf and chicken were dry and tough. The veggies were ok and the only dessert they had a lot of was peach cobbler. We saw people with banana pudding and chocolate pie, we asked but were told they just had a few and when it was gone that's it. It was only 12:30. Not pleased with this trip.

I had heard such great things. But we went yesterday and was really let down. I understand it was busy and some things can't be controlled like the CO2 was out so we had to get lemonade (which was super strong and sweet). But the food was not very good. Chicken was gooey, bread was hard and dry.. just disappointed with the buffet. Perhaps we went on a bad day. But it's like an hour from us, so I wouldn't be willing to go again. �

This used to be an amazing place to eat. Haven’t been here in 7 years. The food was just no good. Drove all the way from London! No Mac n cheese, mashed potatoes, nothing you would think this country place would have. Very disappointed.
