We are huge fans already- our girls loved their kids menu choices, and the fish tacos, meatloaf and broccoli salad are all WAY good! Love the ambience due to the remodel and decor, too It's great to have another really nice choice in Wharton to recommend to others.

There is no place better to get down-home cooking. The seasoning, the breading, the quality is A++. The menu offers a huge selection of food like Momma makes!! The 25 minute drive from Bay City is well worth the incredible meal and great service at this clean, comfortable restaurant! What a treat!

Highly recommend you try:

Onion Rings

Turkey & Dressing

Chicken Fried Steak

Collard Greens

The food is always delicious and fresh, just like homemade. People are friendly and welcoming. The area is always clean with a pleasant atmosphere. If you're in Wharton stop in for a treat.

Popped in for the first time today, while visiting my mother in Wharton and was very impressed. We got there a little before they were opened to beat the rush and were sitting in the vehicle. A gentleman came out of the restaurant (I believe the Manager) and walked out to where we were parked and invited us in before they opened at 11am. The staff was super friendly and was wishing everyone a Happy Mother's Day. Service was fast, the chicken fried steak was great, and the place was very clean. Wharton needed this. I highly recommend. Will stop back by each time I am in Wharton.

Love this establishment. Great food. Only issue was chicken spaghetti was served on Fritos. Should be outlawed. Only chili goes with Fritos.

Dined with the siblings here on Tuesday. Excellent food, service, & atmosphere. Opted for the liver & onions. If done correct, out of this world. If not, . My food is "still orbiting the earth - dang good nibbles"! I highly recommend HINZES COUNTRY KITCHEN.

To whomever is in charge of the salt shaker, please stop. Seriously. Third visit in a row that the food was obscenely salty. And I like salt! I just threw half my onion rings away because my mouth was burning... And not from the pepper. Your food is good. Quit doing this to it.

This was my first ordering food from your restaurant and all was good except the brown gravy not so much and I have to say if it wasn't for Diana asking me if I would like dessert I would have not tried your apple pie I tasted it and my taste buds went crazy tangy sweet crunchy crust I love the way you put the cinnamon n sugar on top of the crust of the pie it was absolutely delicious I am ready for another slice plz don't change a thing on making that old fashioned apple pie

The chicken fried steak was huge, very well seasoned and the okra was amazing! I live right in El Campo and never knew about this place. I will be coming back!!!

I loved the atmosphere and my husband liked the queso burger. The BBQ nachos not so much. They were very nice when I returned the meal. I am looking forward to going back.

I like to try and eat at family owned restaurants and I have always loved Hinzes. However I ate there twice in one week. The first day I got Fish Taco's and the next time I tried the Ribeye, both meals would have been ok but there was entirely too much salt. It ruined the meal.Try cutting back on the salt, not everyone likes that much salt in their food

Had the repeat our order THREE times. Got our food (part of it anyway). No gravy with the chicken strips or the bread that was supposed to come with it. The fries my son ordered wasn't given to us. The fried pickles (appetizer) was the very last thing we got. Much later. The table next to us had to get their order straightened out too. Ridiculous

On to go order check them when you pay, they will charge you for a large enter if that's what you want and give you a small entre, if you don't check it in front of them then you lose.

I hate to try to eat in a cold cold restaurant!! Then when you ask for your food to go instead because you are freezing! The AC never once shut off while we were there! You should pay attention to your customers, especially the ones that eat there once a week!
