Great place to study. spent many hours here as a student of TCC. The coffee doesn't taste charred and bitter like starbucks, although you probably won't see the variety of specialty drinks like they have. I usually grabbed something iced like the dude sweet mocha or the cuban. coffee had great flavor. it was smooth and rich. They also serve BEER!!! hooray!! they even offer some pretty tasty hand prepared sandwiches, or you can stick with the pastries. great atmosphere and the staff are friendly. they serve free chilled water from a cooler in the seating area with cups. the worst thing about this place is the wifi. I found it was often faster to use the hotspot on my phone than their wifi. that may have changed since I've been there, who knows.

Man have I tried to love this place, but the service is super slow (all 5 times) and the espresso drinks they serve are the worst I have ever had. They do have decent snacks but when I go to a coffee shop I want great coffee and this place does not have it. I won't even drink it if someone else is buying anymore. Atmosphere is good for meetings, just don't drink the coffee.

Coffee was good, but really pricey for what it is. $4 for a micro-sized cappuccino? Yikes. I had a breakfast tart (Migas), which was good but also overpriced at $5. Seems like a nice place to lounge, and I personally liked that they didn't have it set up like a "study space," but more of a place for people to gather over coffee. It felt slightly uppity to me, but some people dig that. I didn't find any of the staff to be very friendly (I tipped generously!), but I saw them chatting enthusiastically to regulars/their friends. I had to interrupt their conversation (awkward) to get my breakfast tart because I could see it was done in the microwave and just sitting there for several minutes. Overall, seems like a good local business. I won't frequent the place even though it is walking distance from my house.

London fog is what I always get! its earl grey with soy milk steamed. Their lattes are delish too!

Very disappointed. Girl was not friendly and acted like she did not want to be there. Coffee was not good and I'm not a coffee snob by any means.

I'm very particular about my coffee, some might even call me a snob. I roast my own beans at home, I own an espresso machine, etc. I've been to the "best of the best" coffee shops in all the cities I've visited, and yet Roots manages to continually surprise me. All of their permanent, more classic offerings I've tried have been exactly what I would want- traditional, no frills, just plain good coffee, whether it be a drip brew or an espresso macchiato.

Where Roots really knocks it out of the park though is their seasonal offerings. My first drink at Roots was their Coffee Julep in the winter, which is to this day the most creative drink I've ever had. Not once have I been disappointed in a seasonal drink from Roots, and I truly hope to continue to see their experimentation grow and flourish.

In short, buy their coffee :)

Good atmosphere, friendly staff, tables, couches and bar areas give plenty of seating options. Only thing keeping from 5 stars was the bottomless coffee was pretty bitter in my opinion. Though they will be changing the flavor soon I was told.

Veggie tart was really good & my friend had the chocolate croissant. I'm a dark roast Starbucks girl but it was still a nice cup of coffee. Good mix of people. You can enjoy a private conversation or meet a group of friends. Plenty of seating options. Counter help was friendly & helpful in making breakfast choice. Definitely will return.

Some of the best coffee I've had. It will really get you moving. Quiet, clean local coffee shop.

Friendly staff. The place definitely provides a friendly homey type feel. They allow you to pour your own amount of creamer via kroger creamer. Prices are decent, specifically for regular medium roast coffee. Bathrooms are single unit per man / female. There are chairs and tables, and also a couch. However place is often crowded, outdoor seating is provided.

Always love stopping by when I can. The staff always help me figure out what I'm in the mood for (which isn't easy). The cozy atmosphere is prime for studying, catching up with friends, or just some alone time. I always walk out with a smile on my face and delicious coffee in my hand.
