We had the unfortunate experience of walking into The Wildflower Cafe tonight. My sweet bride to be booked a private dining for the rehearsal dinner of her wedding and showed up, with 20 family members, to a lost reservation. Now, for the record, things like this can almost ALWAYS be fixed with an APOLOGY and some extra customer service. Mistakes happen, and that's just life. But instead of owning up to a mistake, apologizing to the bride, and doing the best they can to accommodate us, the owner was so, so rude to the entire family. Throwing her hands in the air with a piss poor "sucks for you!" attitude. It was absolitely shameful, and literally appalling. We called across the street to a restaurant called Plowshare Bistro and they apologized profusely on behalf of the Wildflower (who couldn't be bothered to apologize even once), set aside an entire private room for everyone, and offered free wines and drinks for everyone. THAT is customer service and THAT is how you rectify a mistake. Will spend the rest of my time in this town sharing our experience in the Wildflower Cafe. NOBODY should be treated the way they treated this family, much less a bride on the eve of her wedding day. The staff of the Wildflower should be absolutely ashamed. They lost the business of an entire group of 20, and every single person reachable within our circle of influence.
Fantastic food! The vibe is kind of hippy-dippy and laid back, but the food is really, really good. They do not serve alcohol but they will let you cork your own bottle. Try their fantastic brunch on the weekends! The gift shop and all of the walls are full of cool local art for purchase.
This restaurant is a great place to eat and has a cozy atmosphere. The staff is friendly, the food is delicious, and the walls are decorated with lovely paintings. Up front you can shop for locally made soaps, jewelry, and decorations. I've only been during the weekend, but there's always been live music as well.
There's also some good vegetarian friendly menu options as well, which is hard to come by in other area restaurants.
We were camping for the Labor Day weekend. Our next-door neighbors who were fairly local invited us to go out to dinner to this Cafe. It was our first visit., but definitely won't be our last. The food was awesome and the waiter was even better! He was very friendly and made us feel like we were regular customers. The whole place was so interesting, an old house filled with paintings and items for sale by locsl artists. Even the outside was unusual. The dinner menu was a tad pricey,, with entrees starting at around $16, but the entire experience was well worth it.
My wife and I come to the Wildflower every month. The food is always excellent. The servers are nice. The owner Moon always makes us feel at home. The music is awesome. Not too loud and permeates softly throughout the restaurant. If you want to get away from the same ole scenery and restaurants take a trip to Mentone and eat at the Wildflower.
Wow!!! If your are even near here you must stop and eat. Bring a big appetite and you will still take left overs home. Highly recommend the Shrimp and Grits.....to die for. If you catch the soup of the day for French onion soup don't pass it up...yum yum. Last but not least.....YOU MUST TRY THE PRIME RIB!!!! From here you will see the stars and be able to talk to Moon. She is the owner...
Such a cute lovely place! I loved the live music and the showcase of local art and work. Great food! Wish I could go there more often!
Had a great time and the food was very good. Had a long wait before being seated but it was well worth the wait. The most fun was Tony playing guitar and we all were singing along. I was raised there and in Valley Head and it was like going home. I'll go back soon and take my sister.
The food is AMAZING! 5 star and more! Well worth the drive to Mentone! The salmon and prime rib are the BEST! Weekend brunch is even better! Just make sure you get there before their seating cut off (THAT AND CLOSING TIME ARE DIFFERENT) or you will leave hungry no matter how far you drove to get there... There would be 5 stars but we were sent packing rather rudely on our first visit when we arrived a few minutes after the cut off. After driving 30 miles to get there and the prospect of having to drive at least 20 most for decent food getting attitude from the man at the register, was a little much. BUT we have had only good experiences since (also have not encountered him again).
What a wonderful experience! It was a beautiful drive to get there. Once there it was packed and we did have a wait, but it wasn't too long and the restaurant has a great assortment of things to look at to keep you preoccupied. Once seated, our waitress was attentive. The live music was extremely entertaining. Food was delivered promptly and it was delicious. I actually took a chance and tried something that I normally wouldnt, quiche and tomato pie and I was delightfully surprised at how good everything was. Dessert was top notch. Can't wait to go back!
