Henry'S Coffeehouse

About Henry'S Coffeehouse

The most prevalent question asked by visitors to Denali Park's newest addition, Henry's Coffeehouse, is "Who's Henry, and why does he have a coffeehouse?" The answer is never what people expect. After all, who names a coffeehouse after a sled dog?

Jon and Karin Nierenberg decided to name the new coffeehouse at EarthSong Lodge after one of their sled dogs. While all mushers will agree, every dog is different and special in some way, Henry definitely stands out as an exceptional example.

Born in 1987, Henry was purchased as a yearling. Checking in at 85 pounds, he fit right in with the medium size sled dogs. Henry had an exceptional career up until his retirement in 1999.

Expeditions took him and his fellow dogs to an amazing variety of places in Alaska and the north country. Henry was on trips in Gates of the Arctic, Northwest Passage, and the Iditarod Trail.

He and his intrepid fellow sled dogs survived an avalanche on the Golden Stairs along the Chilkoot Trail, and navigated through crevasses and ice-falls climbing 16, 000' Mt. Sanford in Wrangells-St Elias National Park. Henry also had extensive exposure to the glaciers on the north side of the Alaska Range in Denali National Park.

The coffeehouse honors a dog unique in the mushing world. Throughout the building at EarthSong Lodge, there are sled dog items and reminders of Henry and his companions.

Sled dog artwork and maps of Henry's travels can be found upstairs in the dining area.

Many of the menu items are named after his family, like the Henry Special (a caramel drizzle latte with vanilla and whipped cream), Uncle Henry's Pesto Pizza, Tigger Breakfast Bagel, and the Pooh Bear (sausage, egg, and cheese on garlic bagel).

Every evening at 8: 00 PM, during the slide presentation, guests can see photos of Henry and his fellows traveling through the park and up on the glaciers. We like to think that if Henry was still around, he would be extremely happy to spend time at the coffeehouse doing one of his favorite things. . . hanging out on the sofa, checking out what's going on, enjoying some scratches behind the ears, and catching some ZZZZ's.

I was excited to try Henry'S Coffeehouse, but it fell short of my expectations. The iced latte was bland, and the prices were steep for what they offered. I won't be returning anytime soon.

The coffee at Henry'S Coffeehouse left much to be desired. It lacked flavor, and the service was slow. I won't be returning.

I have mixed feelings about my experience at Henry'S Coffeehouse at Mile 4 Stampede Rd, Healy, Alaska 99743. On one hand, the latte was superbly crafted, with intricate latte art that was almost too beautiful to drink. However, the wait time was longer than expected, and the prices were a bit steep. I appreciated the attention to detail in their coffee-making process, but I hope they can work on their efficiency.

The atmosphere at Henry'S Coffeehouse is enchanting. The dim lighting and vintage décor create a cozy escape. The cappuccino was the perfect pick-me-up, and I'll be back for more.

I ventured into Henry'S Coffeehouse at Mile 4 Stampede Rd, Healy, Alaska 99743 and had their black coffee. Simple, strong, and no-nonsense – just the way I like it. The place had a chill vibe, and the staff didn't hover. It's the perfect spot for introverted coffee lovers like me.

Henry'S Coffeehouse needs a makeover. The furniture looks worn out, and the espresso shots were disappointingly bitter. It's in desperate need of some improvements.

Alright, caffeine addicts, Henry'S Coffeehouse is the place to be in Mile 4 Stampede Rd, Healy, Alaska 99743. Their cold brew was an ice-cold caffeine kick that hit the spot. The café had a rustic, log cabin feel with wooden beams and folk rock tunes in the air. A cozy spot for coffee and relaxation.
