We have improved our Gallo Pinto platter. This is a vegan meal but you can add two over easy eggs (Tico style). The platter now includes a smaller portion of Gallo Pinto served with maduros, tostones, Hearts of Palm coins, and cabbage salad. #galloPinto #vegan #vegetarian #comidaLatina #costarica #RepublicaEmpanada

Wonderful little place. Couldn't ask for nicer owners. The tostones were the best I ever had, and until now I thought I made the best ones. The fried yuca was great, and so was the jalepeno ranch that came with it. Ask for extra. The guava and cheese empanada was the best. I usually make my amarillos a little more well done than what we were served, but they were perfectly ripe and sweet. Skip the rice and beans here and load up on different empanadas instead. Split them in half with your friends if you have to so you can try them all. They have a variety inspired by many different Latin cultures. Best of all, they have one stuffed with pernil!
Tonight was our first visit, empanadas were amazing!! I had the boricua, pernil and one with chicken, I can’t remember the name. We also had the yuca and let me tell you, deliciosa!!! Wanted to check out the desert menu but we were full already, next time for sure! I highly recommend this place!!!
This restaurant is a hidden jewel. We were looking for a place to eat near MAC and what a find! The food was hot and delicious as well as authentic. Service was super and the environment was creative & interesting. It is also a great value so we highly recommend checking this place out for a meal.
The empanadas were the best, we had Cuban and Pork and a cheeseburger one and had the plantain empanadas for desert. This is a must eat at restaurant when your in Mesa Arizona.
Shout out to Matthew and the closing team for taking great care of us at 8:55pm. We took ours to go, and enjoyed every bite at our dining room table. Just as good as dining in-house, and met our after-hours craving! A true testament to what “hospitality” means. Keep up the great work!! Marco, we just missed you tonight. You have a great team!
I’ve been wanting to try this place for some time and so wish I hadn't waited. Between 4 of us, we shared 8 different dinner empanadas and 2 dessert empanadas - everything was wonderful! The fig empanada was amazing but my husband enjoyed the banana cream filled. They were both great; flakey, not greasy. The dinner plates come with rice and plantains, and I never knew how much I liked plantains until now! The staff was wonderful and we will definitely be back!
It's the only restaurant of its kind in the Phoenix area. Food was excellent. The place was clean. We live about an hour from República Empanada, but we will go back. You can't possibly try all the menu in one day.
I had the Empanada Platter and let me tell you...it was some of the best food I put in my mouth. Fact. For 22 bucks I got 4 fat empanadas, beans, rice, cabbage, plantains, and an ice tea. And it was some soulful food! I will be making the trip again.
Great food, fun atmosphere, I’ll be going back and trying something new every time. Tried the red chile tamales, the guava and cheese empanada, the boricua empanada and the pumpkin empanada. Everything was delicious .
Great food! Great prices! Will definitely go back and try more things on the menu. So much to choose from!
Delicious Latin food, super friendly staff, the location is convenient, plus we don't have anything else like this cuisine in east valley (that I know of, anyway). BTW, the homemade jalapeño cilantro sauce that they give you on the side is to die for. We are definitely adding Republica Empanada to our "regular restaurant rotation"!
Best Pernil Torta (pork shoulder) I have ever tasted. The home made green salsa had the perfect heat to flavor. I definitely recommend people to come and see for yourselves. Super busy so maybe call ahead.
Always , always did I happen to mention always ? This place is always a great choice , the food , the music and the drinks . You gotta try the banana pudding empanada , fig/cheese/ caramel empanada , el capitain empanada , boricua and they had Agua de melon when I went in the other day . Everything I have ever eaten here has been delicious ! Great work you guys , all around great work .
The Food was really good this was our first time stepping out of our comfort zone! The service needs improvement not very friendly when dealing with the public you need to be serving with a smile even though you are not happy where you're at or find a diffrent job! I might be back?
Our waiter was super nice, helpful and patient as only 1 of 5 of us had been there before. We went on Sat afternoon and it was fairly busy but we didnt have to wait long to place our orders and the wait wasn't too long for food. The jalapeno bean and potato empanadas were fantastic, spicy and delicious. Plantains were excellent. From what I hear, the cheeseburger empanadas is awesome but I dont eat red meat. The margarita was refreshing but wish there was more for the price. Will definitely go back once its a little cooler to sit outside.
Food was good but the arroz con pollo had a bit too much sazon for my liking. They could stand to have an additional server but overall it was good. I will go back.
The food and drinks are great, but the service of some of the worst I've ever experienced. After first receiving very attentive service from 3 different servers, we were ignored after our food arrived. The margaritas were delicious and we would have liked to order more, as well as dessert, but instead we sat for over an hour without anyone checking on us. We finally flagged someone down for the check, at which point she blamed us for not tracking her down earlier. I'd go back for the chicken and rice and more margaritas, armed with the knowledge that you have to be aggressive if you want service here.
the food is delicious, i highly recommend the empanadas, however both times i have been there they left out parts of the meal (1st time i ordered a Hearts of palm and avocado salad and they missed the avocado, 2nd time we ordered 4 lunch specials and they forgot the salad on 3 of the lunches) when you go for take out make sure to check you have everything.
The food was great.
Service was horrible. The people sitting next to us had to remind the waitress that they were STILL missing some of their order . Our food took over 30 minutes. When we finally got it, one of the plates was wrong . We pointed it out and the waitress let us know that she knew it was accidentally given to someone else but she still gave it to us because the man had already eaten it. She reluctanty offered to make another plate, but we didn't feel like waiting any longer.
A table of 4 walked out because they were never attended to and another table had to flag another down asking if he could order from them because his waitress never came back after her was seated.
Food is way too expensive for such horrible service.
