Totally awesome home cooking. Great service. Awesome chicken fried steak made in house

Visited today, 12/3. My wife and I selected this location as we are always looking to patron local Tucson businesses.

We were seated immediately, drink orders taken and filled in a quick fashion. As first timers, we took our time parusing the menu. A very nice waitress (apologies for not catching your name) came by with a house specialty "puff". This sugared confection looked delicious, so we accepted the offer. These little puffs were unique and very tasty.

As the restaurant started to fill up with more parties, we started to notice that folks who had been seated after us were getting their food orders taken. Like many people, we do not like to bother wait staff as we have both worked in the industry. However, after 15 minutes we decided to flag down a waitress and let her know that we may have been forgotten.

Unfortunately, this is where the review gets it's one star. Poor customer service. The waitress we spoke with told us "you just got here" and pointed to someone else, saying "she's your waitress".

We politely (and yes, very politely) affirmed that we had arrived before other parties and were concerned that we had been overlooked. With an eye roll and belabored sigh, she pulled out her ticket pad and said "so what do you want?"

Disheartened by this response, I said "nevermind" and we calmly stood up from the table and left.

It's a shame this happened as we were enjoying the unique menu and kitschy decor. Please do not judge the business solely on this review. However, this is a fair review based on our experience.

What a gem! Had lunch here yesterday and breakfast today. Great service, great food and very reasonable prices! (Don't miss the pozole or the made to order fresh guacamole!)

The staff has always been exceptional! I can easily be chatty with them like a long lost friend. They are perfectly attentive to needs. I do not really care for the decor, but the service makes up for it.

I gave up ordering tater tots because you pay $.99 extra for them and you only get $.99 worth. I complained twice, once was given more. But learned my lesson. I was told sweet potatoes fries the same. Small portion for extra cost.

Other than that, cost and portions are fine! Haven't been left hungry yet and often even have left overs...that's how I like it!

Love this little cafe. Our party of 5 had an issue with the food, but the employees and owner really made up for it. Got a free meal and sunny puffs! They really show that they care for their costumers. Would definitely keep going here and recommend!

It is a cute restaurant. Our server was Jen, who was very helpful in choosing from their extensive menu. My daughter and I enjoyed the large portions, and plan to enjoy another meal there in the future.

Awesome!!! Very surprised. Friendly staff, food came out quickly, was HOT, best country gravy I have had in Tucson. I have lived here for 46 yrs. Do not pass this place up because of the Flamingos outside. I griped at my husband when he pulled into the parking lot then had to apologized after the meal. I will eat there every time I am on the south side. :)

Good food, fast service. We showed up with a group of 16 and there was no problem. They say it gets crowded so your mileage may vary.

Having Waffle supreme with eggs and link sausage for lunch. My favorite place to hang out in Tucson. Everyone so attentive and friendly. Add great food - Amazing.

Meh. The prices were good but the food was kinda gross. I had chicken and waffles. The waffle was uneventful (a step above a toaster waffle). The chicken was battered and there was more batter than chicken. It was equally greasy and flavorless. Husband had menudo. The broth was clear and flavorless. Kids had pancakes and sausage. They said the sausage was good, but the pancakes were not. They looked rubbery. I have no idea how this place has an almost 5 star rating unless the food in this side of Tuscon is just awful all the way around. Not the breakfast I was hoping for right before a long drive home.
