I just moved from LA and have started my search to find my go-to restaurants starting with a good breakfast place.
Parking:
This place gets pretty busy so while they do have their own parking lot I ended up having to search for street parking.
Shop/Staff:
The staff are very friendly and attentive of their guests. The restaurant itself was very clean and well kept.
Food:
I ordered the corned beef hash, eggs, home-style potatoes, and toast. The corned beef hash was tasty but I would've preferred it to be a little more on the crispy side. The rest were as good as any other breakfast place.
I'll most likely come here again to try the other menu items after I've checked out some other breakfast places and while the food is good it's not anything extraordinary.
great food. my go to is always the Benedicts. had a party of 4 and were seated in a half hour. drink bar upfront and free coffee made the wait go by quick. parking was crowded but they have a nice side lot for parking.
So, I stayed across the street from this place for a week and they were packed everyday. On the last day of our stay we decided to try them.
They told us it would be a 15 wait, but we were seated in about 7 minutes. After we ordered, our food was on our table within 10 minutes tops. The food was awesome! The manager was doing rounds making sure all tables were pleased. Our waitress was great, too. We will visit them when we return to San Jose
Love that place! Was taken there by my friend and now I take my friends there. Simple, typical American breakfast place, but warm and friendly staff, atmosphere. Parking available in the parking lot and in the neighborhood streets. Waiting time up to 20 min is expected on weekends in the morning.
Experience was good! Chocolate chip pancakes were on point, and as big s the plate they came on! Bacon and eggs cooked right. Service was prompt. They move people in and out of this place! Has a old school dinner feel. Still has carpet floors and vinyl seated booths. Defiantly captures a period in time...
Typical, outdated diner feel. Nice customer service. Plenty of good breakfast options to choose from. My husband couldn't decide between two dishes so he was able to order half orders of each which was nice. Nice large portions.
Great food and great service! Mimosas are really good too. Definitely coming back. Norma, our server is awesome!
Knowing how popular this restaurant gets on weekends, I arrived around 8.30 AM on Sunday. The place was already full, but not yet packed. I sat at the counter, and within 5-7 minutes (which is a bit longer than I would prefer) the waitress was taking my order while serving coffee.
I have to admit that I am boring... I rarely take chances with my food, especially in new places. I almost always get eggs Benedict in every breakfast restaurant I go, just to test them out. Hence, I have eaten many many eggs Benedict. Guess what? This time I ordered something unique: eggs Benedict with smoked salmon!!! Alright, alright, you don't have to tell me I am boring again...
I would give it 3.5 stars out of 5. Some of the improvements I'd suggest:
a) substitute the hamburger bun with an English muffin
b) add some extra Hollandaise sauce on top, what they served just wasn't enough
I loved thick slices of fresh smoked salmon - absolutely delicious! Eggs were made top notch as well. The dish was served with hash browns (or Country potatoes).
Another negative is the steep price. For coffee and the dish described above I paid close to $20 without tips. Either my budget hat fell off that day or I just decided to treat myself.
Overall, fast service and good, yet pricey food.
Breakfast staples served until 3pm in a very classic diner atmosphere. They also have a good selection of drinks, the mimosa being my favorite from their selection. My favorite go to is their eggs Benedict plates as well as their made from scratch soups. Very busy on the weekends, weekdays are less crowded. Service staff is very friendly and helpful if you have any questions about their menu items.
Preserves a lovely old-school diner feel. Delightful staff. Pretty regular diner offerings on the menu. I tried the link sausage and a grilled cheese sandwich. Both were pretty mediocre and under seasoned.
But, a friend tried the chocolate chip pancakes. Which was amazing. I highly recommend the pancakes.
Normal steak house fare in a very nice setting. I've had several different items on the menu and have never been disappointed. A bit on the pricey side but what good steak house isn't? Actually I think the value is good. Very good wine list is fairly priced. Good bar area with a fun bar menu.
A very good place for food. We sat at the counter and the service there was awesome. Every staff member that passed by tended to us. Food was very good too.
The service was a tad slow, but the food was worth the wait. Just don't go during peak brunch hours if you're in a hurry. I like their big selection of breakfast items. I got the croissant french toast and WOW. Delicious!
This is my favorite breakfast place. I have come here more times than I can count. If you decide to go on a weekend, get there early or late because there is a huge rush. That being said, I think the food is worth the wait. If you're 1 or 2 people, you might be able to slip in at the bar. I recommend ordering off the South of the Border part if the menu.
I've had every server there and each one went out of their way to make my experience a good one.
Their prices are very reasonable and you get a lot of bang for the buck!
