Yesterday I got to sample Bruce's new "Bruce's Belly Burger" for lunch. I thoroughly enjoyed it! Today, Bruce upped the anty and I had to go for round 2.



Let me explain this burger to you really quick... it it built upon a flat top toasted Kaiser roll. Initially, it is going to sound a bit basic but, stand by for he gloriousness... on the bottom of the toasted bun there is a schmearing of Thousand Island dressing with a smattering of fresh lettuce and thinly sliced tomatoes( I actually removed my tomatoes and replaced them with the sliced red onion on my plate). Now, this is where the magic begins...



The patty is 1/4lb Angus beef ground with smoked pork belly... bacons big brother. It's grilled through to a nice medium well and topped with Wisconsin cheddar cheese, two pieces of hickory smoked bacon and the piece de resistance an over medium fried egg (Im sure if you prefer it gooier or, less gooey, Bruce would cook the egg a touch different for you), finally it is topped the top of the Kaiser roll (I mentioned it's toasted on the flat top already right?).



When you bite into this burger, that's when everything hits you! It's a full frontal assault on your taste buds (in a GOOD way!). The soft warm bun, the heartiness and lightly smoked flavor of the patty, the crispy, crunchy, salty flavor of the bacon and the ooey-gooey egg all marry together into a flavor that is part burger, part breakfast and all wonderful. If you are so daring to think you will have an appetite left when once you finish the burger, be sure to hold it and eat it over a side of fries for an extra special post burger treat!



Bruce's Belly Burger is a premium priced item on Bruce's menu but, it's not a bank breaker and it will compete and smash any comparable burger I've ever tried and it's a better priced deal than many of the specialty burgers you get at the quirky restaurants with the funky stuff on their walls.



This is definitely a new favorite of mine on Bruce's menu but, just due to what's it in (not it's heavenly taste and intoxicating aroma) it's one I will eat sparingly. Luckily though, Bruce has a plethora of other really wonderful items on his menu and some specialties that come and go. Some favorites of mine are the potato soup in the bread bowl (Bruce's knows this, I frequently beg him to get more bread bowls when he's out), the Polish dog with kraut, the Philly cheese steak and every once in a blue moon, you can get the Redneck Nachos! Those are just a few things.



Bruce's offers daily specials that are usually $6.00-$8.00 which include an entre', side and drink which I find to be budget friendly and much better than any fast food burger barns in the area. And on Fridays, Bruce is now offering a $5.00 special or two to choose from as well.

I would like to thank Bruce and his staff for the delicious food he provided over the weekend. Everything was perfection! The brisket and pulled pork was the best we have ever had. We had a full house and had plenty of food for everyone that was in and out between funeral services. It was a relief to not have to worry about feeding everyone. Plenty of food, even when we asked for more at the last minute. We have a real gem with Bruce's Place here in the desert and you will be our "go-to" for parties and functions in the future. From the whole Proudfoot family, Thank-you!

Bruce's place was an absolute joy to work with. I requested several changes, invoices, and even biodegradable cutlery and they made it happen with no questions. The pulled pork plate was amazing after being out hiking in the heat and the staff was all smiles during the duration of our event. They arrived on time and were cleaned up, leaving no trace. Will definitely book with them in the future!! Thank you Bruce's Place!
