Wanted to thank you on behalf of the SHP Parents’ Association and all the Faculty and Staff for your help in making our appreciation breakfast such a success and a great way to start the day. The quiches were delicious and gobbled up quickly. We very much appreciated how you turned a mistake into a delicious treat. Thank you for being such an incredible member of the community! We are grateful.

This has long been a favorite place to meet friends, have a snack, drink a coffee or a glass of wine, grab some dinner before a movie. Nice ambiance, great people watching, and good food.

The food is delicious, the staff are so welcoming and friendly. I have so many favorite items on their menu.

The best breakfast/coffee shop you could ever come across in Northern California. Their frosted mochas are the BEST you could ever get. Hands down!

My go to haunt during my undergrad, always love the food and coffee here. My recommendation is the Gouda sandwich, ask for extra olives and peppers! To top it off you can never go wrong with a frosted mocha. The whip cream here is not from an aerosol canister, it's homemade and always satisfies.

I was a regular here when the cafe first opened. Nice to come back on a visit and have my "usual snack" (cup of minestrone soup and a café borgia) and not be able to tell the difference of a generation and more.

I love their food and the staff is delightful. Good salads and fun daily offerings. I love sitting outside on a good day and enjoying the sun, friends, and of course, good books next door.

I am completely in love with this place! I have been coming here since I was 10 years old and I have always loved the atmosphere, music, coffee and of course the food. I was always be your biggest fan! The reason why I decided to yelp about them was because I was having the worst day last week and nothing was going right. I am a pretty positive person, but that day ...it just wasn't happening for me. After waiting in line and taking way too long ordering I realized that the person ringing me up had asked how my day was and I didn't even her her. I don't know what it was, but it just made my day that someone even noticed that I wasn't happy and asked me how I WAS doing. Then after giving a weak answer of, "As good as it's going to get right now." She told me that, "The days only feel that way if we let them. We cannot let them win!". I don't know what it was, but this one person just made my day! She was so sincere and I think that is why Cafe Borrones has been around so long and why they will be around even longer and it is because of people like that. Thank you Cafe Borrones!

Food is great. Staff is friendly. Never feel rushed to make room for others. Great place for breakfast, lunch or just a coffee and desert and visit with friends.

Cafe Borrone is one of my favorite places. The food is good and reasonably priced. The staff is great....you can tell they like their jobs, and I think that reflects the good job their manager does. The location is easy to get to, and the corner sits over the underground parking lot. Don't drive? Take CalTrain. Its a half block away. Kid friendly. Live music on most Friday night's...what more could you ask for?

Cafe Borrone is a staple. It has my favorite outdoor seating in the area. It's awesome for casual food, with great & fresh ingredients. The people who work here are helpful and friendly. If you go for brunch, the waffles are excellent, and the wait is long.

Best place in town if you want to brunch, wine and dine or have a nice cup of coffee.

Been attending the cafe regularly and religiously for almost two decades. The food is great! The people watching and the staff are phenomenal!

Do yourself a favour, and stop in for a bowl of corn chowder, or minestrone soup, and a glass a wine on a Friday night with the Clint Baker folks, and have a great time!

Came here after seeing the positive reviews Jerk chicken is delicious. Cooked really well and excellent flavors. Its probably the best that I've had. Oxtail dinner is really good as well. As others mentioned, the meat just falls off the bone... I didn't even use my knife once. The sauce was great too. And to top it all off, extremely good value and friendly service!

A regular go to place since they opened so many years ago. Great food, friendly staff, good wine. Only drawback is that it has become a bit pricey,

The food was fine but the portions were small (especially for their prices), the place was noisy, the waiters were disorganized and/or dishonest.

Just for our small group of four, there were two mistakes:

- they got the order number wrong for someone so they couldn't find her for a long time to deliver her order. She had to chase down the poor guy running around for what seemed like hours with the quiche.

- they got my order wrong and forgot to include the chicken apple sausage. But the worst part is that they actually charged me for it, yet the waiter said multiple times "I saw your order, you weren't charged for it" which is a lie because I know how much I paid and I can do math.

- when they realized their mistake on (2), they said they'll comp us the sausages anyway, which is completely dishonest given that we actually paid for it.

Really, you are in the heart of Silicon Valley and can't use basic technology to keep your orders and books tracked properly?

I would be hard pressed to come here again given the incompetent and dishonest service. The only reason they get business is their location and captive customers (students and rich people in Menlo Park).

I've been going here almost a decade. Went for the first time in a while today, and now I really regret every time I've gone here.

The big problem is the ambiance. It is 5% natural light, 5% occasional dogs lounging out front, and 90% stress.

You wait 10~15 minutes in line, and today when I was next in line I had no less then ten people walk in front of and around me on their way back and forth. Super stressful.

Worse is getting a table. When I'm by myself, it's pretty easy. Each additional person is an exponent more difficult.

The place is so "bustling" that the staff don't have much time to clean the tables, and I can't really blame them.

Waiting for drinks is actually the worst part for me. You have to pick up your drinks from the counter, and it can take anywhere from a few minutes or today, fifteen minutes to get them. Standing at the counter you're again in everybody's way, but I've never managed to hear when my drinks are called from my table (which can be 30+ feet away).

Today was especially frustrating- every time someone came up to ask for something (more ice, a refill, etc.) the baristas dropped everything to accommodate them instantly. I forlornly watched my half finished drink cool off during the third such interruption in today's wait (ice, refill, sugar).

While I've always been a fan of the Cafe Borrone drink (with half the normal chocolate, and even then it's kind of sweet) I got waffles as my go to for years. That was a bad idea because their waffles are not very good. I got them because they sometimes come with baked apples, which for some reason they refuse to put on pancakes (this doesn't seem technically difficult?). Their pancakes are, in fact, quite good, but not good enough to make up for all the other ridiculousness.

I can't help but notice they're always, always hiring. I'm guessing that's because it sucks as much to work there as it can suck to dine there.

This may be a good brunch place on weekdays, but I'm not even sure it's open for brunch on weekdays. At any rate, now that I've discovered Bill's Cafe, Squeeze In, and Coupa Cafe on Lytton, I don't feel the need to ever go back to Cafe Borrone again. They mean well and they're trying hard, it's just not a pleasant experience.
