As usual, wonderful food without being pretentious. My 85 year ol father's first visit. Squid salad was flavorful and balanced. Roast pork and apples a sensual delight and to end, a light but intense Meyer lemon tart.
We didn't have a booking but they managed to squeeze us in for lunch on a busy Friday. Food is sensational and the wine list is very interesting. Staff were very courteous and helpful. A great start to our holiday in California
Great dinner. Traditional dishes with great produce. Two different areas: ground floor, more formal, more elaborate dishes and a closed menu for 75-130$ depending on day of the week. Top floor (cafe) is nice and elegant too, although more informal. There is a short menu and an optional closed one for 33$ (excluding wine both). Starters in the cafe range between 10$ and 15$, while main courses do so between 25$ and 35$. Service was perfect; on top but not overwhelming, gave good advice, was helpful and was very kind.
Really recommend also the late night menu in the cafe (after 10pm, sirloin with fries and salad plus a glass of wine for 28$).
This restaurant was on my bucket list of places to eat before I die. For a special occasion this is perfect. Price is high but food is world renowned and service was great. Eat in the cafe for a less expensive option. Menu changes daily and there is just one price per person for a 3 course meal. Call ahead to request special diet needs.
Great fresh food. Beautiful setting. Good service.
We had a superb dining experience. The food was fresh, elegant, and delicious. The service was professional and helpful.
Simply wonderful. Whether upstairs at the cafe or downstairs in the main dining room this cozy and fancy restaurant never fails to live up to their reputation for offering some of the best food in town. It can often be a revelation to see hum-drum ingredients being used in sophisticated and delicious ways. I am never disappointed.
Highly rated restaurant. Great wait service. I ate at the upstairs cafe. Sometimes, I do not like what is on the menu.
Food was amazing, service too. Recommend trying the corn soup, it is out of this world. The place does pack up regularly, so reservation recommended. Top of the list for me.

The best food and atmosphere. I ate in the cafe portion and loved every plate I ate. Amazing
Had a reservation for two for my wife's birthday, but still waited to be seated by the register upstairs for about ten minutes. The food was fine, but we left a little perplexed about how this place got such a stellar reputation. I can think of a dozen restaurants off the top of my head that are better and cheaper. Had also told the staff that it was my wife's birthday and was assured that her dessert would come decorated. I even asked if I should remind them when we arrived. "No, we have a note in your reservation." Okay, sounds good. Of course her dessert wasn't decorated at all. Still, we paid 17% gratuity automatically added to the bill. Ridiculous.
Bottom line: fine food, but priced too high. Average service from a staff who aren't attentive to advanced plans. And seriously, just pay your staff a living wage instead of forcing us to tip even when you fall flat on your face. Your prices would suggest you can afford to pay them more.
