Wow oh wow!!!!! These folks know how to get flavor in their food! And the ciabatta bread that is standard service is wonderful too. Service and atmosphere is casual and comfortable. Great ambiance. We will definitely come back.

Dametra Cafe is a nice Mediterranean restaurant in Carmel. The service is excellent. The owners personally greet the customers and ensure they have a great experience. There was live music and the atmosphere is great.
Food was overall good for vegetarians.

Being a new visitor to Carmel-by-the-Sea, we decided to have some Mediterranean food. When we showed up to the restaurant, we noticed that the entire staff seemed to be singing, with some playing musical instruments. After realizing we definitely found a restaurant with the right vibe, I tried their lamb shank. The only phrase that comes to mind is holy f*$k that dish was good. The meat is so juicy it literally slides off the bone, and the rice and vegetables were perfectly cooked. With the wide variety of food they offer, I am certain any meal you order here will be as immaculate as my lamb was.

You need to reserve a table a day before if you're going on a weekend. This place is always full but it's worth it. The owners are super nice, they play music and the chef sings. so cute! Owners are from Jordan and Syria, the name came from Damascus + Petra = Dam+etra . Food is delicious! Prices are very reasonable.

The restaurant was lively the staff efficient, lively and entertaining. The head chef apart from his culinary skills had amazed us with his singing. Best part was the food, most delicious mediteranean food I ever tasted, I went for the Dametra Pasta, my husband tried the Greek Chicken Kebab and my son took the Grilled Salmon and all were succulent and done to perfection. Money's worth.

This is one of the best places I've had Mediterranean food at! Their hummus plate and their lamb was delicious! Even the pizza was great. The most memorable part however was when all waiters got together with music instruments and the chef came out of the kitchen to sing a touching Italian song! Kudos to their lively performance!

This is authentic Greek Mediterranean style cuisine. Family owned with attention to details, attention to guest needs with a friendly warm generous atmosphere. The food is delicious, fresh and healthy. The owner even played the base mandolin spontaneously, there was an impromptu bongo section and the chief came out of the kitchen to sing to the diners, the young lady that seated the guest got 2 diners to join her in Greek style folk dancing - it was like a marvelous "flash mob" scene inside a full restaurant!!!

Beautiful ambiance and decor, nice staff and owner. Owner went to each table to ask of the food was good. Food itself was flavorful, we did not like vegetable soup, it had no taste but rest was good. Servers were nice but little disorganized and slow. Overall would recommend the place.

Amazing food. Amazing service. All of the food is great. A bit pricey, but worth every penny.
The owner will grab his lute and start playing music, then Antonio from the kitchen will come out and belt out a song. Next thing you know, all the waiters and all the patrons are up and dancing and singing. Amazing experience.
The place can get very crowded, so reservations are recommended.

A truly delightful experience my wife and I had on our honeymoon. We were visiting from Sacramento. It was busy so call to reserve. It's an intimate place for fine cuisine.
At the end of the 8 o'clock hour, we had been finishing the last of a tasty seafood dish, and the chef had finished all of the orders and all the capacity of about 45 people came to finish their dinners and were enjoying their wine. The grandfather of a man playing a lute had thanked us for coming and wanted to sing us a song. The man worked there but wasn't our server. He asked my wife and I how everything was in a uniquely sincere way. The grandfatherly chef had begun to proudly sing; I remember the Italian words "besame mucho". The culture of the entire meaning of Authentic with a capital A came alive in all of the unsuspecting Sunday night dinner hour guests. We loved the food, exceptional wine selection, and the experience is worth calling ahead. A+

This place was amazing. Firstly, I have to mention that the owner is an incredible man. He heard we were in town on our honeymoon and next thing we know, he comes out carrying this beautiful string instrument (a lute maybe?) And starts playing for the whole restaurant. Next thing you know all the couples are dancing and clapping it was truly an unforgettable experience. On top of that the service was exquisite, the food was delicious, and the atmosphere was super romantic. Overall it was a totally incredible experience, as long as you don't mind a bit of a price tag. I highly recommend trying this place, especially to couples.
