Best burritos in town. Home style Mexican food! It's all good. Hollenbeck is hands down my favorite. I no longer get to LA very often but when I do I'm here!😁
Too pricey for a lot of beans and rice, the meat is so, so... chips and salsa are good. Not worth the drive from OC..
I ordered an okie burrito. A quarter into eating it, I bite into something hard which turned out to be avocado skin pieces. I call the restaurant and spoke to a lady who claimed she was the owner. She was extremely rude to me, as if I did something wrong and told me its happens. I then explained to her that I have ate at many restaurants that serve guacamole in their food and that has never happened.
I have ordered from here before and have found bone fragments in my food and I can kind of see that happening. Which is why I never mentioned it to them but they should be more careful.
Bottom line is, I won't be spending anymore money here. The "owner" is rude, careless and it shows through the quality of their food.
Great food, great pricing. The food portions are made for sharing. U want good mexican food? This is your place. Come and enjoy a good time with your family or friends. Most of the time this place is busy but its worth the wait. Family owned and operated. Great family great service.
It's always been a special place for me. Manuel always made my visits unforgettable! His conversations about how he owed everything to his Mother were always quite entertaining. I always received a free shot of my favorite Brandy, Presidente! I'll miss him, what a great character!
Great Mexican food in Boyle heights. The place has a family feel and the waiters are always cheerful. They have tables inside, take away and outdoor seating for it if you wish. Very good value for the portions served. I would recommend you inquire about their size, some of the burritos are very big. They offer doggy bags in any case. Note that they close at 8pm every week day, be sure to get there early! Avoid Sunday lunches after church as it is extremely busy at that time.
Fantastic burritos! Almost ridiculously big but Fantastic! My family has been coming here for years and never a bad experience! Staff are extremely friendly and the service is fenominal! Always a wait though
My husband and I have been coming here for over 30 years. The food and service used to be the best you could find anywhere. Sad to say but ever since Manuel got sick and started spending less and less time there the kids got more and more greedy. Today you go there and the food has changed for the worst and the service, I don't even want to go there. But somehow they keep raising the prices. We used to go and there would be a line all the way to the driveway sometimes past. All the seating outside would be full. My son and I went there just the other day the parking lot was empty the outside tables were empty the service was lousy and the food was not much to write home about and the prices were crazy high. Sad to say but that was the last time we'll be there. I just feel bad for Manuel because he worked so hard to make it such a successful business and now the kids have just let it slip through their fingers. RIP Manuel
Been coming here since I've been a kid. Although its not often, its worth it every time. Manuel's special is the usual but the best thing thing I've ordered here. Not the only thing though. The food is amazing. Flavors are genuine. Atmosphere is always nice and relaxed. Tepeyac is a second home to me if i were to be honest. People are always nice here and the employees are too.
Manuel, you will always be in our hearts. I recall coming here the day after I got engaged and you came out of the kitchen with beers for all of us and tequila shots. I thought to myself, how did you know the good news??? I'm so glad your friendly staff are still living up to your standards and food is as good as ever. We miss you but will never forget you. Plus I like the new jukebox.
A must place to visit if you want to try Mexican food. If you are someone you have just visited Chipotle/ Taco bell to satiate your desire for Mexican dishes, then your idea of Mexican taste will change completely once you visit here. The food taste awesome. The servers are extremely friendly. Though, it is not a upscale restaurant, it is one of the most likable restaurants in LA (you will know why, once to taste their food).
We had to wait outside in the cold. I did not use the restrooms so I am unable to state how they are. We order 3 different types of burritos. The original burrito tasted the best to me. The portions are quite large. Salsa tastes very fresh and the chips are amazing. This is not a local spot to me however worth the money.
Great burritos and an outstanding 5 pound burrito that feeds 2 to 4 people, that's beat by the one that feeds 6 to 8. Reasonable prices and great staff.
