We we in town wine tasting and decided to eat at Grounds for breakfast. The staff was wonderful and inviting. The atmosphere is comforting and inviting. Would definitely recommend this place.
:)
They have had some inconsistencies over time but, mostly the food and service is good. The eggplant sandwich and chicken tostada grande are my favorite for lunch. Breakfast and dinner are good too. I would recommend.
Their eggplant 🍆 sandwiches are so good. We drive an hour and 15 minutes just for that.
The service and food was awesome. I had the fried chicken prepared sous-vide. The chicken was super moist and delicious. Definitely "guilt free" fried chicken. My husband thoroughly enjoyed the Chicken Cordon bleu. Local wines on the menu and a full bar. Don't let the name fool you . . . this is not a coffee house. I will definitely be back.
Service, cocktails, and food were excellent. We have been here before and it is fast becoming one of our favorite dinner spots. Grounds was the perfect place to celebrate our 15 year wedding anniversary. The servings are very generous, so we were very happy we decided to split our salad and entree.
Service was fantastic. We had their special of Eggs Benedict and it was delicious. This is one of our favorite breakfast spots when we’re in Murphys.
Outstanding service and food. Our meals were perfectly prepared. Their sauces are suburb. I recommend the schrimp in bacon for an appetizer. Yum! Thank you. We'll be back!
Not only is the food wonderful, the people are friendly and always accommodating. Even when we invade with a large group. We have tried other restaurants in town and have not been treated so well.
My girlfriends and I have been going there for a few years now on our girls weekend and I have to say we love the food!! None of us has ever been disappointed on anything we have tried. =) The atmosphere and staff are really quite sweet and cheerful, even on the most busiest of days!!!
I am 100% sure that the elk medallions is my favorite dish I have ever had in my life and from anywhere in the world. No joke. James puts this on the menus for like 2 months then he takes it off. I'm pretty sure just to make me miss it. I cannot resist. Wild elk served rare, topped with herbed mascarpone and grilled prawns. Perfection.
Food was very good. Service, atmosphere was great. We made reservations and got there early but they seated us on arrival
Food was great as well as the service! We meet a lovely couple and they said they been in this restaurant for 200x , it really good food!
Absolutely amazing food!! My husband and I were talking about how good it was, the whole way home to Lodi. We had the tomato basil scramble, the potato pancake, and the eggs benedict (special that day). The service was equally amazing, and how can you beat the always welcoming atmosphere of Murphys?! We will most definitely be back, and might even drive up JUST for brunch here at Grounds.
1000% Recommended. From the moment we got there. Service to pay was an unforgettable experience. We shared the Elk medallions (pretty much perfection) and Cioppino dish. The broth was amazing. Eaten to the last spoonful!
The Cheese Steak sandwich and Basil Lemon Drop were delicious.
Limited menu but good drink and wine selections and friendly staff. Good place for a quick bite then back to wine tasting.
Great food, but the back door kept slamming every time a staff member passed through and we were sat near the door. A silencer of any sort would have made the dining experience perfect.
Unfortunately my eggs were runny. My bacon was not crispy and the potato Pattie was over cooked. It was just hash browns shaped in a Pattie and way over cooked. I do like their lunch. The eggplant sandwich is very good
Grounds is a very nice establishment on Main street in Murphy's, California.
The six of us were came into town for a 7 pm concert at Ironstone ampitheatre, and wanted a great dining experience before the show.
We had made reservations the day before, setting for opening at 5 pm for dinner.
We arrived at 5:04 to a ready table, and were seated right away.
We waited 20 minutes for a menu. It was busy, but we would have liked a menu when seated, as we had set aside an hour and a half to dine before leaving for the concert.
We ordered beers and wine along with salads for 5 of us at 5:20 pm.
Our drinks arrived 15 minutes later.
At 5:30 pm, we finally got our wait person and ordered dinner.
Five of us had Ribeye Steaks, one well done, and four medium-rare, with potatoes, and one guest had a dinner salad.
Our drinks arrived 15 minutes later, twenty five minutes after we ordered drinks.
The salads finally arrived at 5:45, and they were delicious, but late.
After eating our salads, we chatted and patiently waited for our main course.
At 6 pm, we informed the wait person that we had to be on our way by 6:30 to make the concert on time, to which they replied that they would check on it.
A few minutes later, the wait person said our meals will be out in about three minutes, that we could set a timer if we wanted to...
Finally, at 6:30 we got the main course to the table. The steaks were delicious but an hour later than we had planned on our timetable.
Being so behind in time, due to the slow service, we hurried through most of the course, but had to pack up what was left, as it was 6:50 and we are now twenty minutes late for arrival at Ironstone, with half eaten meals to put into a hot car for the rest of the evening.
I don't speak for everyone in our party, but I was ticked that we couldn't enjoy our meal in a leisurely manner.
The dishes are great, full of flavor, and generous portions, but the lack of service makes me hesitant to suggest Grounds to friends and coworkers that travel up to Murphy's, as well as other people in the culinary and service industry, like myself.
