What a hidden gem! I grew up in Escondido, but never knew of the existence of this diner until my cousin invited us here for breakfast the other morning on our way back home (I live in another state now). Most of the breakfasts are near the $10 price point, but you get a lot of food! My eggs and french toast were cooked to perfection.
Quick home good meals in a family environment. Sweet and friendly staff take makes sure you have everything you need. All at a low cost.
Worst chicken fried steak ever tough and soggy. No taste at all.
Eggs and hash browns great, as was the service. All the other food looked good but I'd pass on the chicken fried steak.
I really want to keep this gem a secret, but they deserve kudos for their delicious food and excellent service! We try to get in a couple times a month as it is a 40 minute drive from home. Well worth it!
The food was great, had a very healthy spinach, bacon and Jack cheese omelet, delicious! The staff very friendly. Very quaint homestyle place. Excellent value. I would recommend it.
Nice home feel. My husband loves this place. Pancakes we're great!
Good food and friendly staff. Love the homey feel. It's perfect for an early breakfast on a Saturday before it gets too busy.
I love Home Sweet Home. From the minute you walk through the door it really feels like you're walking into grandma's kitchen. The food is fresh, quick, and delicious. The servers are so nice, and if you go often enough they remember you. Very genuine people. Also, they never let your coffee cup go empty, which is awesome. The establishment is off the beaten path, but SO worth it!
We have been here a few times and the food is always very good. The pancakes were hot which is always a plus and the portions are large. The only thing is the biscuits and gravy tastes more like a ham than a sausage so not totally that grandmas house taste, but still good.
Was in town for a wedding and stopped for breakfast with a party of 10. Took a bit but they accommodated us on a busy Sunday morning. Staff is excellent, food is great. Would not hesitate to come here again if in the area.
Comfort and happiness. This really is one of the better cafes around. I have NEVER been disappointed with the service or food. Located deep in the industrial area of Escondido, it's nice too have a normal place to go to. After seeing some of the poor reviews, I can only suspect that angry people with poor attitudes and bad moods were better off with iHop.
The bisquits and gravy are to die for.
It was a pretty full house when we arrived. We waited about 10 minutes to be seated, which isn't too bad for a Saturday! Everything was great, except the coffee was just okay. Portion sizes were good; we ate it all without being over stuffed! The scrambled eggs were perfect. The Cajun Skillet with sausage was pretty good. The sausage was okay. The potatoes were a little under salted but there was salt on the table. The French toast was delicious. Bacon was perfect. The atmosphere was cute. Service was great!
