Unique experience. Burgers and fries at the first McDonald's. Worth a visit just for the ambiance.
World's oldest operating McDonald's now has a DRIVE THRU. This building is an example of Googie architecture. There is a museum in the adjacent building, where the bathrooms and indoor seating is located. The museum 8s currently closed for renovations. A good time to go is around 4, as you can see it in the daylight and when the lights come on.
It is nice to see a piece of "history", however the museum is still closed.
You can read about this McSonald's and the story behind it because they have a poster.
There is also a banner that tells you about how much the prices have changed thought the years.
Be aware of homeless people around.
It's great to reminisce about the days of the past especially how America was in the 50s. This location gives you a glimpse of how it might have been. Very cool look, and makes you think about how things were not too long ago. Life seemed much more simple back then. Enjoy!!
Nostalgic older Micky D's worth the visit for time travel back to the 50's. But don't expect quick turnaround on your food. This is what they all use to look like before they corporatized and conquered the world.
The food is the same as any other McDonald's with the exception of having amazing deep fried apple pies!!!
Where this McDonald's really shines is that it is the classic building design!! If you love that old googie style architecture or McDonald's or both than this is for you!!!
Nothing exceptionally remarkable about this "historical site." The emblematic arches are there with neon lights at night but nothing to actually else that is note worthy. One would assume that such an iconic American corporation would invest in making this place resemble more to look like its original state. Maybe try putting on original uniforms and period fittings to get an original sense of how this global brand started. Unfortunately, the adjacent small museum was not in operation as of August 17', it seemed as though it just started renovations and won't be complete for a few months. If you are coming from afar to see this place I'd say it's not worth the trip I happen to be in the neighborhood and thought I'd check it out.
Great little piece of history in southern California. Also has the only fried pies (which are delicious) at any McDonald's in the US.
Mom and I Just went to get some chicken nuggets when we got them they looked old and were cold . We asked for fresh chicken nuggets. They had an attitude when we gave them back. They put fresh one's to cook but once again they were going to put old ones again but sense they saw we were looking at them they got them from the fresh batch never going there again
One of the originals.. Worthwhile the visit.. Typical McDonald's food
I wanted dessert and went at 10:30 and they were already closed when the site says they close at 11:00
Fried Apple Pies. McRib. 50 nuggets $10. $4.44 for 2 BigMac. $3.99 for 2 sausage egg McMuffin. $4.79 for big Mac meal. What's not to like!
Despite this being a historic location, there was a misstep in our breakfast order. My wife watched them pull the pre- made egg out of a vacuum sealed bag and microwave it. Then, they let our order sit in the delivery window for 8 minutes without telling us it was done. My wife had to ask where her order was - never a positive thing at a fast food place. And it was, of course, cool when we got it.
Are they speedy? Probably - but it's hard to tell when they don't tell you they're done.
