Definitely a "dive bar" feel, but fine for the family and very friendly, and the food is great! A hidden gem on Shelter Island.

So convenient to Shelter Island hotels. VERY casual, the food was cooked so perfectly and the price is right! I would go again tomorrow.

What a great surprise. I had one of the best cheese burgers I've ever had. It was large, juicy and flavorful. Very eclectic atmosphere. Good service and friendly employees.

I'm a bit surprised at all the rave reviews on service as that was not our experience. The food was pretty good but the service was lacking. She (our waitress) couldn't answer simple questions like what the soup of the day was or bring over a water with no ice. After waiting nearly 25 minutes for our food she never came back to our table. We were there another 30 minutes or more before getting up to go find her. We sat outside and thought maybe she forgot about us. We went inside and there was literally no one else inside except the bus boy. We could've easily left and no one would've noticed. When we were finally able to find her, she gave us our bill and added an automatic 20% tip. Sorry, but I was ready to leave no tip. Of course we still left a little something but this was top 2 of the worst service I've ever had. A word to management: train your staff to know the soup of the day, remember to fill glasses with the drinks they ordered, feel free to see if we'd like another drink (more money for the restaurant), feel free to go back to the table (even is just once) to see how the customer is doing, and absolutely no disappearing when you have a table. A few basic, simple changes and this could be a really great place to go to.

We had breakfast there this morning and I have to say the blueberry pancakes were just superb and plentry of coffee top ups, staff were great and all at a good price.

This old style family dive is the best restraunt in California! The service is amazing and always recommending other places if your visiting. Breakfast is amazing. Probably the best in San Diego. Great drink selection and music playing. Location isn't the best but the food is the crown jewel.

Cozy neighborhood bar in Shelter Island. Great beer selection and wonderful service.

We had calamari and fish. Both were fresh and cooked very simply and tasted great. Service was of a very high standard. Cost more than other restaurants in the area but it was still worth a lot more than we paid. By far the best meal we have eaten in this country!

Had breakfast to plan our day..banana and walnut pancakes a must try..the cafe has some rustic charm in decor with a dash patina..not to forget the group of millennials having coffee, while each had dogs lay on the floor by their feet.

Absolutely horrible food from what used to be a good restaurant. About 80% of the time when we order the La Playa sandwich the crab comes out completely cold inside with the edges luke warm despite the fact that it is supposed to be a hot sandwich. How they manage to serve it icy cold on completely burnt bread is beyond me. We ordered one today and after hearing our server tell the cook it was cold, we hear him open the microwave and stick the sandwich inside. What returned was a soggy mess that was inedible. The crab meat was pooling onto the plate and our burnt bread was super mushy. The burger I ordered was served with icy cold sweet potato fries. I informed the server, she told me she would get me new fries and once again she told the cook about the cold food. I waited for 7 minutes expecting my fresh fries that I paid extra for to arrive. Instead she brought our check and asked if I wanted the fries to go instead of for there. I said that I didn't want them to go, and she left. Several minutes later I ask if I was going to be getting my fries anytime soon. Nope. She said she thought that I didn't want them. It's funny how this place is only good when management is physically there. I will not be returning.
