Great little hidden gem that both women and men would love. And gents, your lady will love you if you surprised them with a date here.
Their tea menu is big and the servers can always give you great recommendations.
Prices can be on the higher end depending on what tea package you get, but get one that comes with their scones at least.

Location is on a very narrow street with a small parking lot. Parking was no trouble at all though

Not a very welcoming group of individuals. Or perhaps it was the way we were dressed as Staff came off as bit judging and snobbish. We had traveling for quite some time and found this little spot while walking. We were ignored when we walked in and sat ourselves down. Not a family friendly place either as they had no high chairs and were not too keen on my 8 month old being there. It took about 20 minutes before we were greeted. I love good proper afternoon cup of tea and proceeded to ask the waitress several questions. She seemed irritated. Long story short..tea was not that great and and the Scones were absolutely awful. Shame really as the venue itself is cute and shabby chic. A little lesson in not ‘judging a book by is cover’ and adequate customer service would help this place out 100%

I did not appreciate being told that I needed to spend a minimum of $10 to have a tea in this place. My friend had already ordered the minimum amount required since she wanted a scone along with her tea whereas I just had lunch some place else and was not hungry. I had no choice but to order one as well to meet their requirement! Interestingly enough there is no selection for the scones. You get what they bring you. The atmosphere is nothing extraordinary but the outside is pretty. So, you might want to go some place else if you are looking for exquisite surroundings where you would feel welcome regardless of what you order.

We didn't do tea and scones (have seen some neg reviews on that) Instead we had Sunday brunch. That atmosphere was beyond perfect - it certainly helped that the weather was perfect! We sat outside towards the back so we definitely had the best seats. The Mimosa Flights were our favorite. We had 6 people and everyone loved their meals. Service was also great. I would go back.

If you love a great afternoon tea, don't go here. The ambience is lovely, service is good and now parking is good also...
But the scones are TERRIBLE. It used to be good afternoon tea . As a tea house aficionada, I was shocked that they could serve a huge lump of hard tasteless cold dough and call it a scone. The cream seemed like something out of a whipped cream can with a drop of lemon juice. My party could hardly eat the scones. The atmosphere is lovely, you don't want to mess up the whole day by complaining. We are local but would not go back. Makes me sad that such a lovely place could go down so fast. Poor management, I guess.

Lovely afternoon chatting with a high school chum (Class of 1970). Interesting menu, enjoyed the Victorian Baked Eggs & Pomegranate Mimosa. Felt as a very special guest. Look forward to my next visit to The Tea House.

Ventured out in search of brunch one Sunday morning and ended up here. What a pleasant surprise. It is absolutely lovely. The food is good and the ambiance is great! They even let you borrow a cute hat so you can enjoy tea in style.

This is exactly the sort of place I've been looking for and dreaming about since childhood! I'm not a coffee drinker. I've always favored tea but finding a tea house or a coffee shop with a good assortment of teas is nearly impossible to come by.... One of my favorite things to do is drink tea and read and, of course, have good food at my fingertips. This place is PERFECT!

The Tea House on Los Rios St. is in a cute old fashioned area in San Juan. They serve tea in beautiful tea cups/sets and even have cottled cream for their scones (something I've only ever read about in books like The Hobbit)! They have a wide assortment of teas; Rose being my favorite next to Peppermint, and a food menu that compliments it perfectly! You're seated on the porch overlooking flowers and old town houses.... The perfect place to be with friends, family, or even just taking time to yourself!

The Tea House is very expensive. Delicious salmon salad. High tea is fun. Their menu does not provide the name of their tea distrbutor.

A sweet little tea room with character. A bit hidden, but worth the finding! Nice tea selection and delicious fare.

Neither I nor anyone in my family will ever patronize this establishment again. The food and tea they serve is acceptable, but overpriced. You're really paying for the atmosphere, which is truly enchanting. I will give it that. However, that's where the compliments end coming from us.

My mother went here with three girlfriends for her birthday. Their credit card machines were down and since my mother was the only one with any cash, she gave some to her friends so they could pay the bill (they would pay her back later). As my mother was leaving the tea house their server approached her and asked why they had tipped her so little (they had tipped 10%, as a former server I know this can be frustrating, but I have spoken to my mother's friends and they had issues with the service, so that's their choice). My mother explained that they were treating her to lunch so she didn't know anything about the tip, but the server pushed the matter further until my mother felt guilted into giving her another five dollars.

When my mother told me about this I was furious, particularly since I know she is not good about standing up for herself and pushy people tend to sniff that out and take advantage, which is what this server did. I called the tea house to complain and eventually spoke with the owner. She seemed more irritated by my complaint than genuinely concerned and said she would write my mother a letter (it wasn't until I pushed the matter that she agreed to repay my mother the $5, no other compensation was even considered). I was not happy with how she seemed to be handling the matter, but figured I'd wait for the letter to come and see how she handled it there.

My mother received the letter this week. It merely said sorry for any "misunderstanding" and contained the five dollars. To me, this wasn't a "misunderstanding", it was a server who was completely out of line and an owner who doesn't care or at least doesn't know how to deal with customers. For those reasons, we won't be going back.
