Great place to go when you want to treat yourself! A little too pricey for a regular outing (at least for me) but they have an amazing selection of brews and nice appetizers that make it an ideal place to meet up with out-of-towners or celebrate a promotion.

Best place for European style beers! A must if you're in Oakland and you like Belgian beer, saisons, sours, etc.

Good beer selection along with appetizers. Slightly pricey, but fun for a first time visit. Definitely small, so be prepared to stand.

I have been coming here for many years and it has only gotten better. Fantastic selection of interesting beer on tap and the best selection of bottled Belgian beer you can find. Tasty food and nice outdoor seating.

Great beer selection, good food. The grilled cheese sandwich was tasty, and the pickle was definitely different, more vingary.

Great beer selection. Ambiance is typical Belgian or Dutch "brown cafe". Outdoor patio too.

Great place with two bars, tons of inside places to sit and an outside patio with ferry lights. Good service and great beer with few bites to eat. Would have preferred better options - solid mixed cheese and charcuterie platter seemed the way to go although tad expensive for my taste.

We settled on IPA and Russian River Redemption accompanied by hummus plate and the mozzarella cheddar grilled sandwich although what I really wanted was the Ruben sandwich. Have to come back in the fall for that ;). Ah, of course, don't miss their Saturday brunch scene with grilled burgers on the patio. Woohoo!!!

Tremendous global beer list. Three different cool sections (front/back bar; beergarden). Friendly wait staff; the reviews of bartenders are skewed, but they know their stuff and are quick to juggle multiple customers on a busy night. Looking forward to visiting at lunch, when specials are on offer.

Historic vibe from this bar that feels a little rough around the edges. Staff weren't really friendly or helpful but the tap selections were good. We went on a Stouts night and despite loving the style their selections were lacking anything unique.

Great selection of domestic and imported beers. The food menu is good too (great grilled cheese sandwich). Once inside, the place is dark and feels like a European pub. Seating in the front bar is a bit tight at times, but there is additional seating when you go further inside, and even more seating in the back bar. Trappist is located just a few blocks from 12th Street BART Station, making it easily accessible by public transportation.

Quite simply, the best beer bar in the Bay Area (and I've been to pretty much all of them). Between the front and back bars, they always have several dozen rotating taps to choose from. The food is mostly bar bites, and a little pricey for what it is. The initiated will be sure to come on Tuesday evenings, when the Mexican place next door sells tacos and bean burritos in the back patio (cash only).

Seriously, if you love good beer, this is the place to come. It's also within walking distance of Beer Revolution and the BART station if you want to make a day of it and not worry about driving.

This is a cool little bar. It's in a beautiful building with a beautiful interior decor to match. The outside area is a letdown--dressed up with a few strands of Christmas lights. The back area is appropriate if you have large group with you.

I was very excited coming to this place with a large party, but unfortunately the customer service was very poor. The bartender that helped my friends and I was very rude. The bartender literally threw my friend's money on the ground for no reason after my friend simply said that he ordered a drink at the other bar in house and was told to go there to get it. To top it off, the same bartender gave me the wrong beer. I wanted to like this place since it seemed very classy, but unfortunately that wasn't the case. Maybe next time it will be a better experience.
