Not the greatest location. Its a fair amount of good food at a good price.
A few years ago I would give 5 stars, even though the restaurant is not a fine one. Unfortunately the food is not the same anymore, however still very interesting and tasty. Hopefully the new management will keep it up!
Lunch is Chinese but I ate there for dinner. They open up at night now transformed into a Cajun seafood place with a simple menu. You can order seafood by the pound cooked in one of several yummy sauces. You get to add in things like potatoes and sausages. We tried the spicy Cajun and lemon pepper and both were yummy. The brussel sprouts we're really good. They have wings too. No drinks but there is a bar connected to the hotel it's at.
They have good portions but my group and I ordered hash browns and it seems like they were mashed potatoes. The steak is amazing , fried rice is ok but it almost seems like it had been sitting out for a while. Pricing is decent. I may give it another shot one of these days. The staff is very friendly.
Uncle Johns Cafè, a place where they serve both Chinese and American food. I came here to eat mostly because of BuzzFeed. They were trying to compare $11 steaks to a $300 steak. The $11 steaks was amazing by the way. It comes with a toast and fried rice. On top of the steak was a strip of jalapeño. It was amazing. The rice had so much flavor, the steak was cooked to perfection and the toast was pretty good.
They only have cans of soda.
Their service was very good and they pay attention to you.
Although they serve the usual food and breakfast food, they close early at 3.
They are pretty good priced for the quality of food that they serve. Try them out if you are in downtown LA.
Been here a few times and really like it. I got scrambled eggs with chicken sausage, you get an insane amount of eggs so I ate half. My friend got the eggs Benedict with veggies and a cup of fruit, I think it was the red and green Benedict. The food was really good and the service was awesome as usual. They get super busy so come here early. We got here at 9.30am on a Saturday and didn't wait but it was packed.
Food is great! I would have giving it 5 starts. But, u will wait forever on a refill. It never fails. They need to hire more waiters. They usually have a max of two waiters waiting on tables.
Allergic to lemons. Water is full of them. Difficult to get water without it. Sausage has little flavor. Hash browns are grainy flavorless mush. Not worth almost 10 dollars. The toast was good, but it was just toast with Smuckers jelly. The eggs weren't bad, but for being the main thing listed on the menu, there wasn't much egg on the plate. Over half the plate was the terrible hash brown. Never again.
Amazing breakfast! Had an excellent steak with eggs and hash browns all for only $11!! That's the dream! Only downside was the service. Perhaps understaffed on the waiters/waitresses? But it wasn't that bad of an experience and would definitely recommend 🙂
Great cafe place, the cooks are the best clearly the steak and eggs via youtube video from buzzfeed. I just wish supervisor was not so loud infront of the new servers.
IT'S ALLL GOOOOOD, EVERY TIME WE COME HERE.... (MON TO FRIDAY)...
This was the best breakfast I've had in a long time! The chasu (BBQ) pork and eggs with fried rice was incredible. The service was fast and friendly and I strongly recommend it to anyone in DTLA.
Good, inexpensive food. Saw their steak & eggs via a YouTube channel- tried it & loved it. Only $11
