What Indian road cafe has going for it is the decor and the presentation of the food. The food itself is nothing short of terrible. I ordered a fried chicken entree with mashed potatoes and all the coating and skin had fallen off the chicken as it was frying apparently because the outer layer of meat was exposed and very tough. I never complain or send food back but on this day I complained and was told "that's what the chef was going for".

Great brunch, we all got different meals and shared. The waitress steered is in the right directions and we could not have been happier. The Bloody Marys were fantastic!

Quite cozy, family and free friendly atmosphere. Food is great, service is good. Menu is modest and fun, prices are affordable, and when you leave you help but to rub your belly and momentarily relive the experience of the food. 👍👍👍👍👍

This place is incredible. At least the atmosphere is. Not sure about the food.... because I'm inside right now waiting to eat it. Can't wait. I know this will be delicious. I need this to be delicious. I'm having a hard time in my personal life.

No competition in the proximity has never been a good thing.

The flavors here are adequate, but the degree of pretentiousness with some items is not attractive: no one wants reinvented quesadillas in the form of a half inch thick pita folded in half with a hint of some cheese in it, or a teaspoon worth of hash browns woven in a mini-nest.

The fact that no one seems to be addressing the fact that one has to hold the toilet seat up with their hand while using the bathroom for the past 2 years is not super cute either.

Great breakfast place. Their Eggs Benedict are excellent. Eating at their place and then digesting by the Hudson is a great way to start any morning. Great breakfast and brunch place. Great service.

Inwood itself already feels like a world unto itself- a Twin Peaks reboot/ripoff could easily be set here. The Indian Road Café happens to be *the* neighborhood haunt. It's like something out of a film or sitcom- it has the feel and familiarity of Friends' Central Perk or Seinfeld's Diner, The Sopranos' Satriale's (or even the Bing? Without the dancers of course...although, that could be a workable business model, and perhaps something like that may well exist East of Broadway), and dare I say, Cheers...

Great food. Great coffee. Great service. Oh, yeah- they have a pretty awesome trivia night to boot. Even when I didn't live in the neighborhood and just came up[up--up]town for CU baseball/football games, I'd always stop in to Indian Road Cafe. Heck, I'd by lying if I said the Indian Road didn't play a part in my partner and I moving in to the neighborhood.

So, yeah. Go check it out.

One of my favorite cafes in the city! The Indian Road Cafe feels like home. Staff is friendly and attentive. The locally-sourced food offerings are plenty, with vegan and vegetarian options. While the coffee and tea selection are great. Pastries are also worth trying, such as the scones.

While the prices here can range to the high side, there's a good spread and everything is delicious. Their brunch is especially affordable and of high quality. The dinner offerings are excellent, and served in portions that won't make you feel like you got ripped off.

They also employ two excellent bar tenders here, who create superb cocktails.

I used to like this place for its vegetarian, vegan, and GF options to accommodate me and my family. Went the other night to find that they have a new fancy small plates menu that offers very little to us. Nobody in our party of four was satisfied after dinner.
I asked about their brunch menu and they said that it remains the same "for now."

Really disappointed that this previously awesome neighborhood cafe is turning into an upscale meat centered restaurant.
Maybe we will go for brunch still but I'll be calling ahead to check their menu so we don't have another dud of a meal.

tl;dr: used to be great, now just their beer is worth my visit.

I used to love this place. They updated the menu just recently and I've found their dishes are now SUPER expensive for their share-size model, so this is the LAST place you should come if your hungry (especially if you're vegetarian - the selection is even worse). I'll only be coming back for a beer, if I just happen to be hanging out at that end of Inwood Hill Park.

I have always loved this place. I have often gone there with friends for brunch or dinner which is always great. Last year i took my family there for Christmas dinner and everyone was happy. I figured let's all go this year again....What a mistake. The food was tiny. Ive been to restaurants where the portions are small but this was ridiculous. My salmon was one bite and a half. The pumpkin was a smear that i couldnt taste. The rest of the table was very unhappy needless to say next holiday we go elsewhere.

Great neighbourhood café with a relaxed atmosphere. Food is good, at a decent price range. Service is friendly and capable. There are several vegan options, which is nice. I've been coming here for six years and the experiences have been consistently positive.
