Serving up an ever reliable cup of coffee at one of my favorite New York City roasters and cafes. This space is cozy, but expect to wait if you wish to sit. No public bathrooms here. Also - no wifi, so bring your pen and paper!
I was just about to leave the metropolitan when I asked one of the staff there -- who was a local -- for a nice coffee shop in the area; she immediately pointed out this place, so there I went.
I arrived around early evening and stayed there almost until they closed, and I had a great time sitting there with my tablet and working on a painting. There aren't a lot of tables available at the shop, but I got there early enough to get my spot. The coffee itself was nothing special, but on the other hand I also had a banana chocolate-chip muffin which was great.
The real plus though were the people. The two guys there who served the customers were extremely friendly. The place seemed to have a lot of regular customers, all of them sounded cheerful upon arriving to the place, and some even had stayed and had long conversations with the guys who work there. This gave the place a very welcoming and cozy-friendly vibe, and since the place is rather small it never felt as if it was too noisy.
If I were to live around that area, I would've definitely visit there often.
Swiss water decaf. All good. Not much seating, but enough.
Just a few years ago, this was the best coffee in the area. In the 3+ years that I've been going there, the prices have risen significantly (my large cold brew is now about a dollar more than it was 3 years ago) and the coffee has been diluted -- their cold brew is now basically iced coffee (I honestly thought they were giving me the wrong thing for a while); the same amount of milk turns it white, instead of barely affecting the color.
It was already over-priced (but tolerable, given it's on the upper west side), but now it's insulting. I can get better cold brew at Starbucks.
Great espresso (served with sparkling water - yeah!), Indulgent pastries (the coconut cream donut is fab - and apparently has fewer calories than an almond croissant), very friendly service and sun-missed benches (at 8am anyway) outside.
Joe Coffee in 514 Columbus Ave, New York, NY 10024, USA – where coffee dreams come true. The espresso was so good it should be illegal, and the staff? Friendlier than a Golden Retriever at a dog park. I could hang out here all day.
Joe Coffee at 514 Columbus Ave, New York, NY 10024, USA – you're the real MVP! Their caramel latte was like a sweet serenade to my taste buds, and the barista was an artist with the foam. The cozy seating and indie tunes made it the perfect spot to escape the daily grind.
I had a rather underwhelming experience at Joe Coffee. The coffee was passable, but nothing to write home about. The cafe's interior was outdated, and it could use a refresh. Perhaps it was just an off day, but I expected more from a place with such high ratings.
Joe Coffee in 514 Columbus Ave, New York, NY 10024, USA is a hidden treasure. The espresso I tried was the real deal—bold and punchy. The café's ambiance is cozy, with dim lighting and vintage décor. It's an excellent spot to unwind after a long day.
What a gem Joe Coffee is! The cold brew was refreshing, and the barista's warm welcome made my day.
