Several of the menu items I was looking forward to were unavailable. The food they did have available was very good. The service was pretty good but I think it is a little too expensive.
Loved it! Good food with a patio view, awesome music. My waiter was very attentive. Will definitely be back!!!
This place is awesome I have a shellfish allergy and they accommodated Me by cleaning the grill before they cooked my sausage and the food was awesome I would definitely recommend any and everyone to go here
We arrived at noon on Sunday there was maybe 8 customers. I figured nice we will get good, speedy service nope. First they were out of fried green tomato then I asked for calamari nope I asked for crab cakes and the whole fried catfish she said she had to ask the kitchen she came back said no catfish so I asked for the crawfish combo she goes and ask and says yes and I said and the crab cakes she said oops let me go ask finally they had something she brings out the apps 15-20 minute later and runs off and leaves no silverware I had to ask another server. We were waiting about 40 minutes and no entrees we requested are server we had told her we didn't want to wait any longer she said you want the food to go are you kidding me we asked for a manager as we no longer wanted to wait or eat there and he said he is sorry and they are having problems and gave a 20% off coupon which felt like more of a an insult.
Love this place! Queso is fabulous!! Jordan you are awesome....
Boudain balls are awesome . Very nice quaint place. Will definitely be back
The food was great! Our server was also the bartender and he did not miss a beat. Drinks were on point and the service was outstanding! Will go again and again and again!
The food was good, however the service was terrible. It took at least 30 minutes to get a drink. One of my friends ordered their entree with their appetizers. The entree came out about a hour later when we were about to leave. The dinner party had already eaten and gotten to go boxes. So we ask could we get that one dinner on the house. We were told that there is no such thing as on the house. Nice place but to be as small as it is it should have faster and better service. I've been to establishment twice as large and gotten faster and better service. Again, the food was good, but I don't plan on coming back because of the horrible service and it looks as if no one cared enough to at least give us a status on the "forgotten" entree.
Awesome experience, ambiance and food! Our server was Lindsey and she is super sweet. I'm so glad we found this place again (I used to visit when they were in Deep Ellum). Best fried alligator and jalapeno hush puppies! I had the shrimp n grits (with a special request for bread to sop up the creamy goodness!)- fantastic! Keep up the good work, we'll definitely be back soon😄
Perfect for date night. Live music was awesome and the price was very reasonable
We really wanted to start choosing restaurants that weren't the normal big box chains on the corner. So we read all the reviews and headed to Alligator Cafe. It was a Thursday night so we thought okay it wouldn't be crowded. Boy were we right...we were the only people there for most of our meal/experience except for 2 women who came in (they had no consideration for anyone and were so loud even the staff was annoyed). The dining room is very small and dark with a temporary hose A/C blowing. It was hot in there. We arrived the staff was all sitting around and talking. We were seated and given a menu. All the items sounded great! We had the Coconut Shrimp as an appetizer and honestly for $11.99 I would have expected them to really be jumbo, but they weren't. They had little to no coconut left on them after frying and well they were average. I had the Pasta Orleans and it was very good. The flavor was great and had tons of crawfish....but the problem was the sauce was to plentiful. I was chasing everything around in a soup basically. : ( My husband chose the Bourbon Street Pasta. He thought it was very good as well. His dish had less sauce and he was pleased with the flavor and excellent spices on the blackened chicken. Finally since we aren't really dessert eaters, we had an order of the hush puppies as dessert. We loved them too, really they should include a few of these with each meal or upsell them, because they are a great little add on. Finally, the biggest complaint we had is that there were flies everywhere. Yes they have a porch, but with it as hot as it is outside, no one was using it ... we were constantly batting the flies away. YUCK!
I have eaten here almost every time I was in Dallas, and quite frequently when I lived close by. I have visited the new place, and it was amazing. Bigger, eloquent, and the same friendly staff. The place is by far the greatest Cajun Italian dining in the city... state... Prices have went up a bit, but still well worth the food you get.
12/22/16 - The family and I dined here over the holidays, and it is still as good as the first day I walked in the door at the previous location. I look at all the low reviews.. one says this one is worse than other locations (it only has one location)... one talks about not liking what she ordered (just because you don't like it doesn't mean you get to change your mind and not be charged for it)... I also applaud the friendly staff and their approach when dealing with rude ignorant customers... by not bending over and taking it up the rear when the customer is clearly wrong.
Nice cozy, neighbohood atmosphere, good menu and food is definitely delicious. Only complaints might be 1) long wait for seating during dinner hours and 2) our entrees were not very hot when brought out; rather than te-serve, they just re-heated our plates which we honestly found tacky.
