Wonderful gem in the heart of downtown Elgin. Found this place on Groupon and with my sister being a Doctor Who fan I figured I would snatch it up. I've been there twice now and both times the staff was friendly and helpful. The coffee is Starbucks priced in my opinion but that doesn't bother me in the slightest as I'm a SBux addict lol. ($5.85ish for a large Iced Magic Bar coffee). We ate this last time and we were pleasantly aurprised. We both got sandwiches and some of the soup of the day. Everything was great. The soup tasted homemade. Blue Box is def on my new fav list for coffee. Their English tea is on my to try list to! Kudos.

While visiting in town from Ohio several friends had mentioned that I needed to stop here. The food for both the lunch as well as breakfast sandwiches were fantastic, the coffees of which I tried 2 were wonderful, and all of the staff were very, very friendly and knowledgeable.

I definitely look forward to trying to visit here again when I'm in this neck of the woods.

Whether or not you're a Doctor Who fan, this is definitely a place you'll want to check out. The food is top notch, and the coffee is spot on. Lots of Who memorabilia to look at as well as episodes playing. Friendly staff and the owner will always thank you for stopping in.

Went last night (7/1) for the Dr. Who season finale and I'm glad I went. A friend of mine told me about this place, but I'd never been. The décor and atmosphere are perfect. The food and drinks are delicious. Very glad to have finally gone and I'll be there again!

Well what can I say I am not a dr.who fan at all but my wife is very much so. When she went here with her dad she could not stop talking about this place. Well today is thr day we went and it is a nice cafe. The food was great so that right there made my wife happy and she is looking forward to us coming back again.

Was a first time visit for us and I chose my early mothers day lunch to be here. The Sarah Jane latte on ice was heaven, worth the trip right there. I also had the Rose's wrap, also delish! The people were wonderful and quite patient as we perused the menu and asked questions about what was in certain sandwiches. Definitely a return trip in the future!

This is such a fantastic gem in Elgin. Great atmosphere, decor, and especially food. I’m dairy and gluten free. They made me an excellent breakfast sandwich and soy chai tea.

This is a great place to go if you like Doctor Who. It's still a good place to go even if you aren't a Whovian. The food is really good and the people are nice.

Super cool atmosphere, very friendly staff that talked with my teens like they'd known them for years. We got several different beverages, to many to list;but all were delish! Perfect spot to sit and chat!

My daughter and I love going to the Blue Box Cafe. The food is delicious, and the owners are special! They go out of their way to serve others and make sure it is a great culinary experience for their customers.

If you haven’t been to Blue Box you’re missing out! Everything there is fabulous from the unique coffee drinks to snacks to the sandwiches! You won’t be disappointed. And the staff is friendly & owners are good peeps!

If you are a Doctor Who fan, you owe it to yourself to check this place out. Great coffees and the food is great. Worth the drive to check it out.

I love this place! Aside from being a fan of the Doctor, the food here is simply quality and the coffee drinks are great - I'm smitten with the Last Cinnturion and the Weeping Angel. The staff is knowledgeable and there are a lot of fun events happening for geeks of all flavors.

First time there yesterday. I loved it!! Such a cute little place! Love all the "Doctor Who" decor there from the tv show plus a gift shop area. The staff was friendly & The food was fresh and super yummy. All homemade soups and sandwiches were delicious! There is only 2 people working so you must be patient and not in a hurry when you come here. I waited for 20 mins for my food and that was for carry out. Overall such a good cafe! I plan to come back soon! My family loves the food here. FYI they are on Groupon right now so you can get a really good deal for their food for cheap! ;) Enjoy!

First thing that hits you is the atmosphere. Fun, colorful lots of interesting things throughout. A full menu of yummy sandwiches and salads to add to the coffees and teas. Very creative and there is enough to choose from if you are vegan, gluten free, peanut and milk intolerant and Mormon (no coffee). Always something going on from live podcasts, to games and of course Dr Who is almost always playing at the great BBC of Elgin.

Drove all the way from Hamilton, Indiana through Chicago to have a Mocha and lunch at Blue Box Cafe :* We loved the coffee, food, & atmosphere so much we will have to visit again very soon! Thanks to Blue Box for making a few outsiders feel welcome! Beautiful town!! #whoviansforlife

We just enjoyed our first visit to Blue Box Cafe with a group of 11 people.

The staff told us it was just the two of them and asked us to be patient because we would need to wait. But, we really didn't wait that long.

The food was good, the coffee drinks were a big hit, and the theme was super fun!

Keep up the good work. We will visit again next time we are in town.

My first time there. I liked the Doctor Who theme it has. The food was really good, and the staff was friendly. The menu had a combination of traditional and original choices. They gave Doctor Who related names to their creations which added to the atmosphere. I will definitely be coming back.

Friendly service, nice sammies, good hot chai latte, cozy small space filled with many places to sit, WiFi, Doctor Who theme with episodes running on TVs throughout the room. Busy and popular. Very clean women's restroom shared with other stores in common hallway. Will visit again for sure.
