Byzantio Houston Description
Byzantio is a family business owned by husband and wife, Ilias and Dora Giannakopoulos. Ilias was born in Greece and has been in the restaurant business for over 30 years. In 2002 he met Dora, a Biology major & a native Houstonian, and together they decided to open a business and try out a new concept to introduce to Houston. And so, Byzantio was born. Byzantio officially opened on December 10, 2003.
Byzantio is a new concept with a full bar, a restaurant with authentic Greek food, and a full gourmet coffee bar. Byzantio is a “one stop shop”, offering something for everyone. We’ve got authentic Greek cuisine, fresh coffee, and delicious adult beverages. If you're coming in for breakfast, please try our breakfast pizza. For lunch or dinner, we recommend our trademarked dish "the Kalamaki".
Our menu includes flavorful dishes for our vegetarians friends such as the Vegetarian Delight. Our Mediterranean cuisine might be Greek-based but our atmosphere is diverse and perfect for anybody looking to have a good time.
Come join us in the late afternoon at the bar for one of the best happy hours in town with everyday specials on wells, domestic longnecks, house wines and a featured specialty happy hour cocktail every day of the week! Byzantio has become the “Cheers” to its customers; everyone is family and is recognized by their first name after one visit.
Ilias and Dora Giannakopoulos take pride in their business and here at Byzantio we strive to make everyone’s experience a great one and a “home away from home”. December 10, 2003- July 25, 2016 With a sad heart I would like to inform to all of our devoted customers old and new, that today is the last day of business for Byzantio. Over the wonderful years that we, Ilias and I (Dora) have had with you and all the memories will live daily in our lives will never be forgotten. We would also like to thank all of our customers who have supported us over the years with our sincere appreciation. To all of the past and present employess ...that have stuck through thick and thin and sincere "Thank You" especially to Fotini,Julie and Gustavo , we would have never been able to do this without you! I am hoping that our paths will meet so that we can have our great conversations that we have had over the years. The properties were sold to a developer, therefore enabling us to retire and enjoy life.

This place is amazing. Full coffee bar, full bar, hookah, patio, and good food! I'm here now during a slow hour, and I'm loving it; wonderful experience! However my waitress could do with a smile! :P

I like this place. The food is good (love their Greek salad and homemade baklava.) They are real Greeks. The coffee bar is awesome. I had a double Greek coffee followed by a Nescafe frappe. A coffee lovers delight. Free WiFi, friendly owner and staff, outdoor seating and chill ambiance with Greek music. What's not to like?!

Excellent place I give the food atmosphere and Belly Dancers a FIVE STARS! Our server Cyrstal was professional and amazing. This is a Hidden GEM and must be discovered. Love it and will return!
