Okay, so these gals just got their very own, custom built 'Winnebeggo'. We're excited about our 200 Red Star egg layers getting their own mobile home to keep them safe out in the pastures at night and give them a comfy place do their magic for us. Fresh, pasture raised, non-GMO eggs in three weeks and counting!!! #cafehomestead #winnebeggo #nongmo #nongmoproject #freerange #freerangeeggs #freerangechickens #pasturedeggs #pasturedpoultry #pastured

One of the most meaningful Christmas gifts I've ever received!!! This is an African Mahogany spoon made from one solid piece of wood by my friend Mark at #bormanfurniture . A few weeks ago, Mark carved this spoon for our annual #homesteadcraftfair . Needless to say it was a conversation starter for a lot of people. When I saw it, I laughed and told Mark the story of discovering my family's surname meaning. It means 'wooden spoon'! To my great surprise, Mark showed up at the Cafe this morning with a bow wrapped around it and our family surname hand carved into the handle. Truly a unique gift with special meaning! Thanks Mark!!! #woodenspoon #africanmahogany #handcarved #heritagefinecrafts #cafehomestead

We were visiting West and googled cafes and came across this one. Great food, our waitress was Helen M and was the best. We enjoyed visiting w/her. Highly recommend eating here and exploring the grounds.

We Visited Cafe Homestead today for the first time. It was a great experience! The food and atmosphere were awesome! I loved the organic teas, as well as the gluten free pancakes and bread, and sugar feee options! We will definitely return!

This was THE most amazing dining experience!!! The service was amazing, the setting is breathtakingly picturesque, and the food was outstanding! Truly the best we’ve ever tasted, so much so that we went back a second time during our short weekend trip! If you are even remotely close to Waco, you MUST stop for an early dinner at Cafe Homestead

This is one our favorite adventures. I love the wholesome atmosphere and the really fresh foods. Their desserts are out of this world. Kathy and I are both attracted to their life style. It’s wonderful to experience such simplicity in life.

This is one of the most delicious and delightful dining experiences I’ve ever had. Bar none, the best burger of my life. The food was perfection! And our server, sweet Tabitha, was the icing on the cake. She had the most helpful recommendations and the kindest disposition. Five stars, without a doubt!

This community is absolutely lovely. Everyone was friendly and helpful. I purchased the best trail mix I have EVER eaten and cheddar sticks, both in bulk, from the market. We ate a superb lunch at the cafe. The homestead fries are something you won't want to miss. They make excellent cheese and breads. And the carrot cake is also the best I have ever eaten. Ever! If you have an interest in a rich, simple, and religious life, you will want to tour the grounds and learn about this community. I wish I lived closer so I could indulge my self in the food and the lifestyle (they teach the craft of weaving). Right now, I am off to investigate how I can purchase and ship. I want more!

Their handmade veggie patties are amazing! Along with the buns and cheeses. The kids loved the grass fed burgers as well. Highly recommend.

The food was spectacular and the service was over the top. Best fried potatoes I can remember. This is how dining out should be, such kind and polite people!

My husband and I attended the May special evening 4-course dinner. Everything was perfect from the napkins to the fresh tulips on the table. Helen escorted us to a table for 2 for the first course of spinach artichoke stuffed mushrooms. The second course featured a strawberry caprese salad with balsamic reduction. The mozzarelli is made at their creamery. The entree round included bacon wrapped filet, parmesian crusted red potatos, glazed carrots, dinner rolls with blackberry plum tea to wash it all down. The fruit came fresh from their fields this morning. My steak was perfectly medium rare. My husband’s was medium well-too done for his tastes. The homemade vanilla ice cream sitting atop a white chocolate rasberry bread pudding fit the bill to end the night. Besides the overdone steak, our only complaint centered around being offered coffee and finding a charge on the bill. For a $60 all inclusive meal, we felt it should have been included. Overall, we will return next month to enjoy the polite, attentive, ready to visit young staff.

I have been visiting Homestead Heritage for 15-20 years. It is always a relaxing treat to visit the beautiful property--tour the historical buildings---delight in seeing the wonderful artisan work----the restaurant food is scrumptious----the employees are very kind and helpful----the grocery market is so interesting and fun to purchase lovely items. I give it really 10 stars.

I can't say enough of how fortunate I feel to have ventured off the normal "highway" food to try this. Food was excellent, staff was friendly, and home made cheese and specialty foods, pottery, woodwork, textiles....all amazing! Will definitely return when I'm in the area (or make a special trip)!

Great service, amazing food and big portions!

The entire Homestead community was wonderful. The scenery was beautiful and the hand crafted gifts were something you wont see anywhere else. Would highly recommend!

Great food and a worth the wait. Tried their Pancakes, Mushroom/Swiss Burger, Homestead Fries, and Grilled Cheese w/white cheese(different but good). All were great and really enjoyed their peach tea. Thank you.

Clean and the food was good. Fresh orange juice was really good. And all the craft shops were a fun way to spend a few hours. This was our second visit.

Although they don't take reservations per se, you can ask for a table and give a time - they will text you when it's ready. So we toured the village and returned for a wonderful meal at noon. Some of us split entrees - they split the plate for us and were very generous with proportions. Three cheers for Hannah who put up with us - serving, splitting, dividing the check (four families), and keeping our drinks filled to the top. Café Homestead offered a free scoop of ice cream on Yelp - delicious homemade, very big scoop for a freebie. Maple pecan was amazing. It's 59 minutes from our house but we'll return . . . . while visiting our family in Waco.
