We went to the Evangeline Cafe to hear the music of Roy Heinrich and the Pickups. He was great. The atmosphere and the food at the Evangeline Cafe was heavenly. I had the crayfish etoufee. It was unbelievably good. I plan to go there again the next time I am in Austin.

The best kept secret in Southwest Austin. The seafood gumbo is on point every time! The jalapeno boudain is consistently great! The staff is very friendly! It truly is Southwest Austin's hidden treasure.

This place is great. Service is top notch. On Wednesdays the Peasemakers play late. I suggest if you are looking for food, blues, and friendly fun atmosphere, go to evangeline's .

This place has been on our long over due to do list. Finally had dinner here on Saturday evening. Pretty small restaurant but they definitely use up all the space they can. We had a small wait as they were pretty busy when we arrived.
We started with some crispy fried frog legs which were better than I expected. I had the stuffed pork chop, and it left me desiring more taste. The description was loaded with flavor but it was just okay. My husband had the Alligator Sauce Plquante, which was very delicious. The kids had fried catfish which they devoured.
Had a great selection of beer, primarily Abita. Good wine list as well.
We will definitely be back, as that chicken fried chicken with spicy gravy was calling my name.

Best seafood gumbo of my life. Better than anything I've found in Louisiana. Thin onion rings and special sauce were great. Servers were friendly. I can't wait to go back!

Evangeline was once of my favorite places to have a meal in Austin. I would always bring guests from out of town there. I've known the cleanliness of the place hasn't ever been the greatest (see their restrooms) since I've been eating there over six years, but expected more care when it comes to my food. I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich last weekend and found a RAW/uncooked piece of shrimp on the bun. Absolutely unacceptable! Please consider training your staff on proper food handling especially when you work with seafood and meats.

Authentic cajun food. Quaint place with great eats. Get the fried alligator or gumbo!

Hands down, the best sit down restaurant in South Austin. Food and atmosphere always great. The Gator Bites are amazing. Highly recommended.

Food was great. Service could be better. Waitresses disappear for extended periods of time. More table touching.
