We are re- opening on Thursdays, will be open tomorrow, come in for some good German food. Will open for breakfast at 7 close at 2 re-open at 5pm for dinner.

We will be open Thanksgiving Day, 7-11 breakfast, 11-2 thanksgiving meal: turkey, ham, home made roll, dressing, corn pudding, mashed potatoes, gravy or sweet potato casserole, salad with fruit & nuts, dessert, coffee or tea. Call for reservations 785-263-1868. $14.99 less for child under 12. There will be enough left over for you to take home for that midnight snack. Take outs $15.99 must be picked up by 11:30.

Open every Thursday, Friday and Sat evening at 5pm. Specials this week are: T-bone steaks 12,16 and 22oz, 10 oz filet mignon (USDA prime) 10 and 12 oz rib eyes, 8,10,12 oz KC strips. In house cut to order.... Large country fried steaks and pork, chicken fried chicken, Shrimp, catfish. Plus full menu, hot sandwiches, salads etc.

Hitching Post Grill, Saloon & Steakhouse 100 S E 5th Abilene EXTENDED HOURS. In addition to our daytime hours now open at 5 pm. Thurs, Fri. and Sat for full menu including steaks, catfish, shrimp and specials. All day breakfast on Sat. In addition to the breakfast and lunch hours, include extended evening hours for the newly renovated Hitching Post Saloon and Steakhouse are: Thursday, Friday, Saturday & Sunday Nights. Try our rib eye and strip steaks, chicken fried chicken, catfish, shrimp, country fried steak, roast beef, and many other options. Five flat screen tvs have been installed with a full sports package. Dinner begins at 5:00 pm, full bar opens 3pm.

We went to Abilene on a Sunday. They didn't have but 3 things on the menu. My husband ordered the Chicken Fried Steak Dinner. I ordered the Roast Beef Dinner. My husband said was one of the best he had ever had. My Dinner was sooo wonderful. The rolls were homemade and just perfect. I will be back. Very good service with the young man that waited on us. He was very plesant. The meals included drink , mashed potatoes, creamed corn, rolls, side salad, and cake for dessert. What a deal!

Road trip 2018 my sister & I were looking for some awesome local bar food & we found it ...Great food & terrific service. Loved it & it was right off the interstate.

My family came in for lunch this summer. Our waitress was a very nice young woman and she took excellent care of us. I had the turkey club, which was excellent! I also had the onion rings. I can scarcely express how amazing those onion rings were. Hands down the best I have ever had anywhere. Not a single person in our 10 person group left unsatisfied. We unanimously decided that the Hitching Post is now our go-to eatery in Abilene.

My Dad was an over the road truck driver and my Mom & I used to come with him during the Summer. He would haul goods to the meat factory and we'd stay at the Hitching Post for 2-3 days. I will never forget the huge yummy cinnamon rolls that we would have for breakfast!!! Mom & Dad really like the coffee too. This was back 30 years ago and I haven't forgotten this place at all! I remember a boy that worked there & his name was Shane.

Food and service were very good. I had a KC strip steak that was very flavorful and cooked as I requested. Hubby got their chicken and noodles special. He said it was very good. We will certainly be back for dinner!

What my wife and I had for breakfast was the chicken fried steak and eggs. The steak was tough and not a lot of flavor, had to get my own coffee once and the food was slow coming out of the kitchen. But on a up beat note the people were very nice.

The food is good,but the service is awful. I ordered the dinner special which was to come with a dinner roll and desert. Waitresses never came back to check on table till after my drink had been empty for 15 minutes and plate was empty. I never received the dinner roll although was written on the check that I wanted one. The only reason I received my desert was that I had to ask waitress wasn't my meal supposed to come with a desert. Again the food was good,location was convenient for what we was doing,but service was terrible.

The evening was very busy, with several to go orders. We did get our food in a reasonable amount of time and would say the place seemed to be very organized.
