Okay guys, THIS is something amazing. As you all know, we have been on a quest to raise funds to purchase a new air conditioning unit for our cafe. When we found out it was going to cost us $10,000 to replace ONE unit, we panicked. We are a grass roots organization that spends every cent on providing the best employment, opportunities, and experiences for the special needs community- how could we ever afford a blow such as this?!?
We have been INSPIRE...D! Why you ask? Well, two of our very own teammates have donated to our GoFundMe page to help us buy our new a/c unit. To all of the teammates who believe in Hugs enough to GIVE THEIR OWN MONEY back into our mission- you inspire us. You teach us that it is vital to invest in our community and that giving back is what it is all about!
And to our two inspirational donors:
Travis- You have grown from your days at Hugs Prep to a wise gentleman that is always there to lend an ear and conquer a mountain of dishes. Even though you have moved on to working at Harvest, we are so glad you will still be with us on Sundays to light up the cafe. We LOVE you Travis!
Jacob- You have shown us all that work is so much fun when you are there. Every day you engage with new customers and volunteers, teaching us how to grow beautiful flowers and most importantly, when to strike a pose! We look forward to celebrating your career ambitions with you in the coming years. We know you have no limits in what you can achieve!

💚💙Everyday at Hugs Cafe we are encouraging our staff to work together and learn to accomplish new things. Manni and Sam work together weekly on their skills. Manni is learning to bus tables and be a good dishwasher. Sam is learning how to train Manni and give instruction to other teammates.

�We saw this on NBC news over a year ago and knew we wanted to visit. It happened today! We traveled from Iowa to visit. I work with the disabled population and this place is amazing! Thank you, Ruth, for envisioning this and making it happen. This place makes people happy and the food is amazing! Yum! It was great to meet you, and everyone else too! �

What Ruth and her team are accomplishing is incredibly admirable. This non-profit restaurant staffed by special needs employees will melt your heart and satisfy your tastebuds. Don't skip the wedding cake cookie!

We went to Hugs Cafe for the first time today. The owner came to our table to personally welcome us and talked for several minutes with us. The staff is so nice and the food is great! I was even given a hug from one of the employees when we were leaving! We will definitely be going back. Also, you must try the wedding cookies!

We had a wonderful visit to Hugs Cafe - delicious lunch, friendly and helpful staff. Had a chance to talk with the founder, Ms Ruth. As a parent of a child with unique needs, I’m excited to see enterprises like Hugs grow and develop, bringing the community in as well. Best wishes from us and we will be back!

We enjoyed a wonderful lunch at Hugs after church on Sunday. The service was so embracing and sweet! The founder, Ruth, came to our table to talk with us which was so nice. The service, hospitality, food, and wedding cookies are worth the visit!

Today was my second time to eat here, and the first time for my daughter. She wanted to treat me to lunch, and I told her this is one of my new favorite restaurants. She had the veggie sandwich and I had the special of the day- a grilled cheese sandwich with smoky bacon and tomato, and also a cup of the tomato basil soup. We shared a yummy salted caramel brownie and a cookie. We’ll be back soon.

This place has amazing food and great service! Everyone is very nice and it’s such a great environment. Will definitely be coming back. Even if it is an hour away. It is worth the drive.

This great little cafe served a wonderful lunch yesterday. They managed to accommodate our party of 17 with advance warning and ordering with ease even at their busiest time. I applaud the work of this cafe and wish them every success as they provide jobs and meaningful work for those in our community who find it hardest to come by. <3 We will definitely be back.

The Staff and this restaurant was nice nice and VERY helpful. I think this is a wonderful program to learn skills, and have a nice meal. My kids from Atwell Middle School had a great time. Job well done

If you want to try the BEST grilled cheese sandwich in the world go to Hugs on Friday and and order the house special. Today was about the 3rd or 4th time eating at Hugs, best service and food you can get. The atmosphere makes you feel so relaxed and worry free. I went with my daughter Stacy and granddaughter Joey and had the best time and food. Please give Hugs a try , you will enjoy it so much. Thanks Cierra, Mike and Jerry.

Hug’s Cafe is everything that is good in the world! Wonderful food, wonderful staff, wonderful cause! Even the other patrons there were so sweet. There is something about that place that just melts away the stress and hate from the outside world. I can’t wait to go back.

Food was great and very reasonably priced. The staff was awesome and did a great job! We also purchased their wedding cookies for our wedding. The guests LOVED them and they were the first thing gone on the dessert table!

Cute cafe with excellent food! I had a veggie sandwich and potato salad. Staff are very friendly and happy. Love the idea behind it. Even the cooks are special needs.

Amazing place! Loved the food and the people. If you are in the McKinney area, you need to make it a point to go to Hugs Cafe!!! Can't wait for their new place - Hugs Nursery to open. They are giving these people life skills that will help them in the future and it is amazing to see how hard they work.
