We stumbled upon this cute place during spring break, and my picky eater son had the brisket avocado taco. He said it was the BEST thing he's ever eaten. We were in San Antonio again this past weekend and just had to go back. It is not along the River walk, but a quick 4-5 min walk, and worth every second of it.

This time we brought more family with us....and they loved it too. They really stuff those tacos full.....it was soooo good....again!

A little gem off the beaten path! Definitely worth going to! And all the staff were so nice!

This is where owner pride and an amazing small business menu collide into a very pleasant experience. The staff and atmosphere were delightful. Located in a charming historical village near the Riverwalk.

I ordered a unique breakfast sandwich made with a large croissant, fresh eggs, cheese and topped off with tender brisket. Added a side of seasonal mixed fruit and what I had was an amazing breakfast that forced me to slow down the speed of each bite. Absolutely delicious!

This is the most beautiful and friendly business. My family and I love places where the owner isn't too proud to give great service at the counter. Barry was so friendly and genuinely gave amazing service to all the patrons. Would absolutely recommend and return everytime we're in San Antonio!

This cafe made us 51 cups of hot chocolate, for our school trip, on one of the coldest days we had. They were so nice and awesome! They, all the staff, we're so helpful and happy. They truly made us feel welcomed! Thank you for allowing 44, 7th graders, to invade your cafe with a smile.

The staff was super friendly and the food was fabulous! My husband had the chocolate chip-peanut butter pancakes and I had the veggie omelet, both were perfection itself. The fruit was fresh and the coffee was excellent.

Stopped in to grab the wife and I some coffee. Great atmosphere and super friendly staff. Barry, the owner, was helping run the counter and was helpful and respectful of all customers. Would expect nothing less from a fellow Aggie. Can't wait to go back for a full breakfast (and eventually lunch or dinner!). Coffee was great also, by the way!

Stopped in for Breakfast on Sunday. Had the brisket and egg, veggie and egg, and the chorizo and egg tacos. All 3 were fantastic but my favorite was the brisket and egg. It was amazeballs. The apple fritter was good also. Service was quick, friendly and very up beat. Will be back if we have time before we head home.

Puppies at large in San Antonio:

So, yesterday, a colleague and I were walking to our conference early in the morning when suddenly we heard a car pull up in the parking lot behind us, dump a bunch of puppies, and squeal away.

We were the first things those puppies saw, so they ran to us and wouldn't leave our sides. None of the animal shelters were open yet, and where we were headed wasn't a very safe path (busy street!) so we headed to a cafe that we had eaten breakfast at the day before.

The people at La Villita Cafe took the puppies in, gave them water and a safe place to stay until the animal shelter could come pick them up.

Awful to think that someone could be so heartless as to leave poor defenseless animals to fend for themselves like that, but at the same time heart-warming to know that there are people like those at La Villita Cafe in the world. Please give this place your patronage!! Good people!

We checked back with La Villita Cafe this morning and the shelter took them in, onto be nursed back to heath, vaccinated, and fixed.

Happy puppy ending for all

My small family and I come here every time Alamo City Comic Con is around, and we're always happy. Food is wonderful, decent price, they're the only place where I can actually drink black coffee (I'm the need half of my coffee with cream and sugar kinda girl), and my daughter always eats their food, she's a picky eater. I love the atmosphere of a kind of homey feel. Can't wait to come back, I always recommend this place when I know someone is going downtown.

It's very rare to meet people who will make you smile when you are miles away from home and a server at this cafe did that 🙂 Upon checking my id he said oh you are from Alabama do you guys say roll tide and when i said yes he said it is one of the best football teams of the country. He was very attentive and friendly and asked me if I wanted a refill. The food is also very good at this cafe. We had a shrimp taco and it was zesty and tangy and absolutely scrumptious

Holy F@%k! Great tacos! Be aware it’s a small cafe and very busy, don’t be rude or impatient good things come to those who wait! Great people working and the food is awesome

Fantastic place just off the San Antonio River Walk! Have been twice during this trip. Very kid friendly and the best pancakes in town. Both my kids said so, and they really enjoyed chatting it up with the owner after he challenged them to finish a plate of pancakes!

Had the 6 taco special, 3 chorizo and egg and 3 bacon and egg. Bacon and egg were good, but the chorizo and egg were great. The chorizo and egg were very messy and we had to ask for more napkins. No napkin dispenser on the tables or out in a condiment area where we could get a few extra for ourselves. I always find this stinginess with napkins annoying. Also, I would have liked to have been able to get a 20 or 24 oz. coffee. Seems the largest they had was 12 oz. nowhere near enough to satisfy my coffee addiction.

It was good, being from south Texas I am a bit of a taco snop tortillas were not up to par for me. Although they had a great breakfast plates my husband and daughter both enjoyed theirs. Fresh fruit and salads was good place. Just stay away from the tacos

Went there this morning only to find that after waiting in line for 20 minutes, they were not serving their full menu. There was no sign advising of this. We were told to select from a few taco choices or breakfast sandwiches so we did but then we were told that they were sold out and not making anymore (despite the menu which says breakfast is served all day).

Went to this place a few minutes ago and I️ received my food within 15 minutes of ordering (chicken was tough) however, they said it would be a minute for my husband’s order. We waited another 30 minutes until the lady at the next table received the same order my husband had ordered (she ordered at least 15 minuets after us). He asked for his money back and got it with no apologies or offers to make it right! We will NEVER go there again!
