I've been to Mariposa multiple times, which is located on the second floor of NM at La Cantera. They have a great menu selection, including some excellent salads, as well as sandwiches and entrees. The healthy choice items are even marked with the macros they contain! A nice touch that is definitely appreciated. The consommé served before the meal, along with their pop pastry with strawberry butter are both amazing. Personally, I can't have the pop pastry due to having Celiac Disease, but everyone I've gone with raves about it. I have tried the butter though, which has a gentle sweetness that isn't overwhelming. The seared salmon salad is an easy 10/10, with artichokes, hearts of palm and goat cheese on top of the tender salmon itself. My only complaint was the house-made creme brûlée, which was not tempered correctly, which led to a flan-like consistency, but not as good. There were chunks of custard as opposed to a nice creamy texture, and the flavor of Texas honey was lacking as well. Our server Rose was outstanding, even with being so busy. I do wish they'd bring back their gluten-free flourless cake. It would be made on the spot and had about a 10-15 minute wait due to this. It was hands down the best flourless cake I've ever had, shame they got rid of it.
Great food and a perfect lunch spot that's quiet and upscale while being away from the typical mall traffic.
I had low expectations for this place cuz let's face it - what could an ostentatious store like Neiman Marcus know about restaurant?! Turns out, they know a thing or two about food! Upon sitting down, the server brought an expresso-shot size of chicken broth (weird, right?) He said it was to clean the palete then he brought a medium-sized puff pastry with whipped butter. The combination of these free appetizers really stimulated my appetite. On to the main course, I ordered their mahi tacos. For $19 I get two tacos - a 2 ounce fish fillet on each tacos sitting on a slaw and topped with avocado (the whole thing looks pretty and appetizing!) The meal comes with a small bowl of tortilla chips and salsa. I was starved when I got here and by the end of my meal, I was satisfied. They also give out this chocolate-covered mint candy when you get the check. High-end stores like Neiman are known for their service and attention to detail. Mariposa certainly lived up to Neiman's standars. From the tentative staff, the quality of food to their cute silverware/decor (the outside seating is pretty on cool days), I think it's definitely worth the price.
You are certainly paying for the ambiance here bc the mostly bland food is far outmatched by the price. The only "meal" worth tasting is the tortilla soup. It's the best I've ever tasted, BUT at $13 for a little bowl, it's definitely a rare treat. You're looking at spending well over $20/person for a meal that's going to leave you hungry again in an hour...with no leftovers.
When it's a beautiful day outside, you're not that hungry, you want to eat somewhere pretty, and you have some money just itching to be spent frivolously, give Mariposa a chance.
Gave it a try, loved the environment and professional service, food was also good but probably need to try a few other things on the menu a try before giving a 5 star. As a first time customer, so far I was very impressed. Hopefully will update review soon.
If you're a coffee fanatic, don't miss Mariposa at 15900 La Cantera Parkway A, San Antonio, TX 78256, USA. Their iced Americano was a refreshing caffeine hit. The café had a relaxed, beachy feel with surfboards on the walls and reggae vibes in the air. Perfect for a coffee escape.
So, I checked out Mariposa in 15900 La Cantera Parkway A, San Antonio, TX 78256, USA, and it was a rollercoaster ride. The mocha was top-notch, but the Wi-Fi was slower than a tortoise on a tea break. If you're here to work, better bring your patience and a good book.
Mariposa remains my top choice for coffee. The baristas consistently craft the perfect latte, and the cozy, inviting atmosphere at the 15900 La Cantera Parkway A, San Antonio, TX 78256, USA location makes it my sanctuary for relaxation.
I stumbled upon Mariposa during my coffee quest, and it was a game-changer. The cold brew was like an icy caffeine punch to the face, and the staff was as cool as cucumbers. Plus, they had board games – coffee and Connect Four, anyone?
Mariposa is a coffee shop that defies expectations. Tucked away in 15900 La Cantera Parkway A, San Antonio, TX 78256, USA, it's a little slice of coffee heaven that I'm glad I stumbled upon. The moment I walked through the door, I was greeted by the rich aroma of freshly ground beans, and I knew I was in for a treat. I decided to try their specialty, a honey lavender latte. It was a revelation. The combination of floral notes from the lavender and the subtle sweetness of honey paired perfectly with the espresso. It was a flavor profile I had never experienced before, and I was pleasantly surprised. The interior of Mariposa is a blend of industrial chic and cozy comfort. Exposed pipes and metal accents give it an edgy feel, while plush leather couches invite you to sink in and stay awhile. It's the kind of place where you can lose track of time. But what truly sets Mariposa apart is its commitment to the community. They source their coffee beans locally, support local artists by displaying their artwork, and even host community events. It's a coffee shop that feels like a welcoming hub for the neighborhood. If you're looking for a coffee experience that goes beyond the ordinary, Mariposa is the place to be. It's a coffee shop with heart, where every cup is a work of art, and every visit feels like coming home.
