What a great place. My wife and I went for lunch yesterday and it was fantastic! Wynter is an amazing waitress who never let my tea get below half full. The chicken fried steak was amazing and we loved the okra. We will definitely return.

Tonight was our first time in. Terry was our waiter and he was awesome. His sense of humor will turn a bad day into a good day, and in our case a great day into a most fabulous day. Food was great. Wonderful dinner, wonderful staff.

This was our first time at Pappy's cafe and the food and service were excellent. We had fried pickles for an appetizer and for entrees, the chicken tender platter and 1/2 ribs, 1/2 sausage. The tenders were lightly battered and tasted fresh, and the ribs great as well. If you're thinking of going, be sure to bring friends because the portions are very generous and reasonably priced. Be sure to ask for Terry; his jovial personality capped off our excellent experience.

This is a top-notch establishment! The owners take pride in not being your run of the mill franchise restaurant. The food is fresh and there is something for everyone!! Can’t wait for their up and coming move! �Cheers to bigger and better places �!

The first restaurant i ever went to in Houston because of a little ad in a magazine. Been back at least 20 times since then, and is my favorite restaurant in Houston. They’ve got a little bit of everything, and it’s all delicious. Pappy’s is the height of Southern cooking and Southern hospitality. Special shoutout to Terry! He’s the man!

Pappy's Cafe is where I buy groceries! I love this place!!! The staff are like family!!! Gill, Joey, & Terry are the best!!!

Tuesday's..World Famous Meatloaf with Creole sauce, Wednesday's...Blackened Catfish with Crawfish Etouffee, and Sunday's...Crab Cakes with Crawfish Etouffe. Just a few of my favorites. DELICIOUS!!!

I was looking for a great lunch spot and found this gem! The chicken fajita enchiladas were awesome! Dewana was my server - she is truly one of a kind! She has a great personality, very personable, and quick!!! Thank you for an excellent quick lunch! I will be back!!!

I moved to SC 10 years ago and decided to go back to Pappy's while I was visiting Houston. The service was fantastic! The chicken fingers were amazing-just like I remembered! The fries were not as good-I liked them thinner and crispier like they were before. However it was still outstanding!

I don't get to that side of town much any more. But everytime I'm near I stop to eat there! I love their Fried Shrimp how ever I eat anything on their menu and it's wonderful. We as a family always took the Kids there for meals. I have enjoyed their great food since the '80's. Tomorrow is a big day because they will announce where they will be moving to since the property there on has been sold.

First time at new location. Took about ten -fifteen minutes before our drink order was taken. Once we ordered appetizer and margaritas, it was out very quickly. Yummy and hot as usual...did not get waited on by old crew but our waiter was on top of it for it being so busy. Love the huge new bathrooms! !

Pappy’s reminds me of the Black Eye Pea, back when Black Eye Pea was actually good. Everyone seems to like the chicken strips, so I tried that. Fries and a salad with ranch. The strips were pretty good, although not very crispy. The gravy on the side was very good. Fries were average, and the salad was pretty basic.

The scorpion tails were really good; chicken fried steak not so much. The breading flaked off and the gravy cold. With so many good restaurants in Houston, this is one that I would not go back to

Tonight my family and I ate at pappys for Father’s Day dinner, big mistake! Half our meals weren’t even warm when they brought everything out. But with how busy everything was we decided not to complain. Until I cut my daughters hamburger in half and it was still bloody. Ew! Sent it back and she was brought out a cheeseburger. She doesn’t like cheese...which is why I ordered her a hamburger. But by the time we got her cheeseburger everyone else was almost done eating so we decided she would suck it up and eat it anyways. Until she took a bite and it was PINK again! I’m extremely disappointed. This doesn’t fly in the restaurant I work in. �

Not good at ALL!!!! Zero stars would have been a better rating, but it wasn't an option. If you have allergies to ANY food, be sure to tell your waiter....regardless of what you're allergic to, or what you order! Blackened Catfish should NOT have refried beans anywhere on a plate with it - but last night at Pappy's it did. Thankfully I found them before I ate them!

Ice tea was good. Burger had to be sent back because bun hard as a rock. Then found shrimp shell in the French fries. Won't be back.



Had to remake the burger myself, then had to ask for some hickory sauce for the hickory burger. Did not finish. Only positive was they comped my meal.

I called to place a to go order and the bartender, Jo Jo was extremely rude. She asked me what I wanted for my sides and I asked her what sides they had and her response was, "we have a lot of sides." She then continued on to say, "if you want to know the sides, read a menu." Really??? I was looking at their online menu, which happens to be pictures, and did not see a list of sides. I was appalled at how rude she was, especially seeing how THAT IS YOUR JOB. I decided not to place an order and hung up. I called back to speak to the manager, Andy, but he didn't seem to care. I would stay far away from this place. There are too many good restaurants in the area with good food AND good service to settle on some subpar diner food with horrendous service.
