This review may be a little biased because Russell is a very good friend of mine, that being said Russell's bakery is an Austin institution that serves great pastries and very good coffee and they make stunning custom cakes for all occasions.

I'm from Vienna and I know good pastries and good coffee and that's what get at Russell's.

It's a great place to start your day and to get your afternoon boost with something sweet on the side.

They offer many whole milk alternatives and have a lot of very good tasting gluten free items. Many other coffee shops/restaurants source their gluten free items from Russell's. One in particular, Cups and Cones, said they like Russell's because they easy to work with.

Staff is always friendly, pastries are always delicious, drinks always made in a timely matter. Great place to meet someone for a quick bite and chat, or do some work, or read a book, all around great place.

Russell’s Bakery is one of my favorite coffee shops in Austin. They have a wide variety of baked goods from danishes, cakes, muffins, and a lot more. I got to try a couple of their pastries and wow! All of them were delicious. You can tell that they truly care to make the best product they can. For example, the muffins have this amazing moist texture on the inside which makes it go down smoothly unlike other places that sell dry pastries. My absolute favorite ones are: the strawberry danish, the banana chocolate chip muffin, the pumpkin muffin, and the cinnamon roll. The service here is great, I got to talk to the owner and he is so nice and outgoing. He made me feel at home and you can tell he genuinely cares about the place. All in all, this is a great place for anyone to come visit. I love this place and am highly satisfied.

I had been driving past this place for awhile and finally decided to stop last Friday. I am so glad I did. This is hands down the best coffee shop I have been to in a long time! The ladies who work here are so pleasant and even the customers were so very nice and freely gave recommendations (I was advised to go with the tomato bisque, which I did not but will have to in the future)! I will definitely be frequenting this place to the point of becoming a regular!

Awesome bakery items. Only comment is when ordering tea they don't pour the hot water over the tea bag. They give you the hot water at 200 degrees, way too hot for proper steeping and you then have to dip your tea bag in the hot water.

I go to Russell's every year for the Christmas cookies. It's a great place for lunch as well..... Not far from 2222 and Mopac, it's well worth checking out!
