We're back from vacation and today we're going to be serving: smothered chicken, fried pork chops, meatloaf, cabbage, black-eyed peas, corn on the cob, mashed potatoes, and rice.. we also going to have peach cobbler and lemon cake thank you for being patient while we were on vacation.. Shannon's is one of those outstanding places where "the locals" eat. The fried catfish, greens and cornbread are incredible. Southern food at its best. And the people are genuinely nice. No pretenses. Will definitely be back!!

If good ol fashioned soul food is your thang, THIS is the place. But make sure you schedule a nap shortly after you eat. . I've never had anything here that I didn't like- just like Mommas cookin ( well, maybe even a little better).. ❤️❤️❤️

First time going to this soul food restaurant in Bryan Tx. I must say that I was very pleased with every thing, I had the smothered chicken and it was on Q. The blackeye peas was cooked the right way , not from the can! Definitely going back!

Can't beat homemade, southern, soul food from Shannon's! Meat is so tender and the peach cobbler and banana pudding were the cherry on top. My boyfriend and I will be longtime customers❤️

Best food & service EVER! If you haven’t eaten here, you haven’t really dined in Brazos County - can’t help but clean your plate. And the cornbread - and cobbler - beef tips & rice, fried chicken, pork chops - it’s all good

1st time going, it was good.

I had hamburger steak, yams, greens, rice, brown gravy, corn bread and sweet tea.

We ate in so they gave us plenty....

Friendly service

Good food

$10 plates (1meat 2sides 1bread)

Drink is extra

$13 all together

I will return

The food at Shannon's is always good. Some of the best home-style cookin' around! The only reason for a 4-star review is although we got our food timely -- the line moved right along -- it came to a standstill at the point of the register. I know they were busy and that is all good but maybe, just maybe work on that check out time a little. I sure didn't want my good smelling, good looking food to get cold on me!!

I love Shannon's Soul Food Cafe. I recommend the Breakfast as much as the lunch. I recommend getting to Shannon's before 2 pm or you might miss an item or two off the line. We have a ranch not far from Shannon's so for years I have worked our cows and then gone into town to eat at Shannon's. Yesterday, I had Cabbage, Mashed Potatoes, Fried Pork Chop and Black Eye Peas (all excellent). Shannon's was out of cobbler so I tried the Banana Pudding...not pleased because I know Shannon's can do better on Banana Pudding 4 of 5 Stars and yes go visit Shannon. Remember if you are going for lunch then go early for lunch.

Had the oxtails, which is the only meat I order at soul food restaurants, yams, turnip greens, and purchased rice as an addition. The food was pretty good but the portions are nowhere near worth the cost. I literally got two slices of yams and the rice I added, was not even a cup full. She spread it out in the to go box. The oxtails were in shreds. The turnip greens, which were an after thought, were very good. I frequent soul food restaurants where I live in the Houston area and I'm accustomed to eating off my plates two-three times. I ate off this plate once. I know oxtails are more expensive and I don't mind paying, but the price I paid is nowhere near the quantity of food I received. As far as taste, I would return, but it's too pricey for a lunch; nearly $15.00.
